An amethyst seal dating back 2,000 years has been discovered

It depicts a plant associated with Cleopatra

An amethyst seal from the time of Jesus Christ was found during excavations at the Western Wall in Jerusalem. As experts have found out, it shows a plant, the fruit of which was used to make incense during the Second Temple Period.

The seal, which could be worn as a ring, still bears an engraving depicting a bird next to a branch of the so-called Biblical persimmon. In Second Temple times it was used as an ingredient for the production of Temple incense, perfumes, balms and medicines.

The first-century historian Josephus Flavius mentioned that Mark Antony gave Cleopatra groves of such persimmon that had previously belonged to King Herod. This was probably done so that the famous queen would have an unlimited supply of expensive balm and perfume.

Huangshan

It's not just a mountain. They are almost a deity. More than 20,000 poems and countless paintings have been dedicated to them, even leading to the creation of the Huangshan Mountain School of Painting.

The famous Huangshan Pines, whose silhouettes can often be seen in traditional paintings, grow on top. These trees are very small in size, but many of them are many hundreds of years old. They grow on the bare rocks, withstanding hurricanes in the fall, frost and snowfall in the winter, and sweltering heat in the summer.

Santa Cristina Sacred Well

Located in Paulilatino, central-western Sardinia, Italy.
The well of the Santa Cristina sanctuary was built by the Nuraghic civilizations in the 11th century BC.

The well is dedicated to the cult of water, and the Nuraghic religion is also associated with astronomical entities (Sun, Moon, solstices). The staircase consists of a single ramp of 25 steps that leads down to a circular domed room that housed the well.
The sacred well has a diameter of about 2.5 m and is covered by a vaulted roof almost 7 m high, made of basalt blocks.

The Mystery of the Cemetery of Chaucilla, Peru

The last burials here were made about 100 years ago. Like most people in the world, Peruvians buried their bodies in the ground - their graves looked like shallow wells. The walls were lined with stones and covered with clay.

The dead person would be seated in a small room. The Peruvians squatted their dead in the graves and wrapped them in a linen cloth soaked in resin. The material adhered tightly to the skin and wrapped the body in a shroud impervious to germs. Thanks to this method of mummification, all the dead people were surprisingly well preserved, and the Chowchilla cemetery is more than a thousand years old.

Scientists have found that people were buried here in the IX century. Many 700-year-old bodies still have patches of skin, and the heads of the deceased are decorated with thick, shiny hair.

Battle of Los Angeles

This picture was published in the Los Angeles Times on February 26, 1942. To this day, supporters of conspiracy theories and ufologists refer to it as proof of a visit to Earth by extraterrestrial civilizations.

They claim that the photo clearly shows the spotlight beams falling on an alien flying ship. However, it turned out that the photo for the publication was heavily retouched - a standard procedure to which almost all published black and white photographs were subjected for a better effect.

The authorities called the incident in the photo a "misunderstanding. The Americans had just survived the Japanese attack and the tension was incredible. So the military overreacted and opened fire on an object that was probably a harmless weather probe.

Crinoidea are the oldest living echinoderms ever discovered, living in abundance during the Paleozoic era.

This fossilized organism existed about 300 million years ago and got its second name "sea lily" because of its shape. It inspired the images in Ridley Scott's science fiction classic "Alien.

The creator of Alien was the Swiss artist Hans Rudolph Giger, whom director Ridley Scott noticed and brought in to create space creatures (xenomorphs) for his film, after seeing Hans' artwork called Necronome IV. As a result, Giger's work brought the director's team the American Academy Award for Best Visual Effects in a 1979 film .

Ghost Trees in Pakistan

An unusual phenomenon occurred in parts of Pakistan after the 2010 flood. Millions of spiders climbed the trees to escape the flood waters caused by the floods. Wrapping their silk fibers around the trees, they turned many of them into veritable cocoons.

This phenomenon had both positive and negative aspects. The country, much of which was long flooded at the time, saw a reduction in malaria, a deadly disease carried by malaria-carrying mosquitoes, despite the large amount of water.

It was these, then, that were almost completely destroyed by spiders with their nets. But such massive nets also became murderous for the trees themselves, many of which began to die for lack of light.

The owners of The Magnolia Hotel (Texas, USA) are convinced that the building is haunted.

The hotel was built in 1840, and in 1874 there was a terrible bloody atrocity: one of the little guests was killed with an axe. Since then, the spirit of a girl named Emma has roamed the hotel and sometimes doesn't mind playing ball.
That's exactly the kind of scene the security camera captured. You can see how the ball rolls by itself, and a little later some mysterious black shadow also appears in the frame.

Also about the manifestation of the paranormal indicate special devices left on the floor. These devices, often used by ghost hunters, start flashing brightly when they detect entities from the afterlife.

The structure was built in the 12th century and has a mysterious history here. The castle was originally home to a large and noble family, after whose surname the castle is named. The parents always loved the younger daughter Margaret more than the older Eleanor. Driven by jealousy, Eleanor locked her sister in a tower for 20 days and starved her to death. Since then, it has been rumored that people see Margaret's white ghost, which inspires anger, fear, and depression. More recently, some teenagers encountered a ghost in the form of a horse at night near the castle.
