This year, we will be distributing another 400,000 free Gardening with Edibles seed packs to households!

Register for a free seed pack for your household online or call 6499 1099. Registration ends on 31st October 2021, Sunday at 11.59pm. Hurry, there’s just one more week to go!

10 leafy vegetable varieties will be distributed at random to registered participants. They are easy to grow and tasty to eat, check them out here!

The distribution of the Gardening with Edibles seed packs is made possible through the Garden City Fund and in partnership with Singapore Post Limited. Open / Comment

2021-10-20 08:00:08 Did you know that this Variegated Green Skimmer (Orthetrum sabina) is one of the more ferocious species of dragonflies, being a fast flyer that even preys on others?

This species is commonly seen in a variety of open wetlands such as in Kent Ridge Park, Toa Payoh Town Park, and Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park – keep a look out for this “dragon” with a distinctive pale greenish colour when you’re there!

Shutterbugs will enjoy this showcase featuring snapshots of nature in our midst by four Singaporean professional photographers Darren Soh, Gareth Phua, Yeo Wee Han and Charmaine Yap.

Through different perspectives (from various vantage points to close-ups and even astronomical imaging!) these images will give you a different dimension to Singapore, our City in Nature.

If you’re heading down, be sure to observe safe distancing, keep to group sizes of no more than 2 pax with no intermixing, and wear a mask at all times except when engaging in strenuous exercise.

Check out the Animal & Veterinary Service (AVS) free webinar if you’re keen to get a pet bird and want to find out more about how to care for it!

Hosted by our AVS veterinarian Dr Ian Liang, the webinar will feature Dr Trent from Jurong Bird Park and Dr Jessica from Mandai Nature. They will share about what to consider before getting a pet bird, the types of birds suitable for first-time owners, and how to take care of their health and well-being.

They will also be joined by pet bird owner, Yue Jin, who will be sharing his first-hand experience.
