2021-04-19 08:10:05 As the largest resident raptor in Singapore, the wingspan of the White-bellied Sea Eagle (Haliaeetus leucogaster) can be over 2 metres wide!

Unlike other raptors that hold their wings horizontally, the White-bellied Sea Eagle holds them in a v-shape as it flies.

Another fun fact – this eagle was featured on the $10,000 banknote from the Bird Series Currency Notes from 1976 - 1984. Open / Comment

2021-04-14 08:10:02 Just as its name suggests, the Handkerchief Tree (Cynometra browneoides) looks as though white handkerchiefs are hanging from it!

These “handkerchiefs” are actually the flushes of new leaves. After a few days, these flushes harden and turn green, just like the rest of the mature leaves on its crown. Open / Comment
