All very good from a man who earns £83,347 plus expenses and has just received a 3.4% increase on top of that. Politicians tell us how we need to show restraint at a time when inflation is rising by the week and a new report from Citizens Advice Scotland says that one in five people have run out of money before they are paid or receive benefits again.

Pay rises, though they should not be excessive, need to at least keep pace with inflation. Many people in Scotland are in or nearing being in working poverty already and the Scottish and Westminster governments are both failing them. Open / Comment

2022-05-23 09:52:41 On this day in 1701 Captain William kidd was executed in London for murder and piracy.

William Kidd, was a Scottish sea captain who was commissioned as a privateer and had experience as a pirate.

Kidd was born in Dundee, Scotland prior to October 15, 1654. While claims have been made of alternate birthplaces, including Greenock and even Belfast, he said himself he came from Dundee in a testimony given by Kidd to the High Court of Admiralty in 1695. There have also been records of his baptism taking place in Dundee.

Kidd had captured a French ship, commanded by an English captain, as a prize. He had been commissioned by the Crown as a privateer for this expedition, but the political climate of England turned against him in this case. Some modern historians, for example Sir Cornelius Neale Dalton, deemed his piratical reputation unjust and said that he was acting as a privateer.Documents found in the early 20th century in London court papers supported Kidd's account of his actions. 2022-05-23 00:57:55 PA London attended the scene of Lee Rigby's murder, and paid our respects nearby. Many patriots visited the area today on the 9th anniversary of his murder.

Our lady activist felt threatened by one of those looking like Lee Rigby's assailants in the vicinity.

Lee Rigby was murdered by terrorists within our borders, from whom our people should be protected. Lee Rigby signed up to protect these lands, which, 9 years after his murder, are still not being defended. Open / Comment

2022-05-22 14:04:50 On this day in 2013 British Army soldier, Fusilier Lee Rigby of the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, was attacked and killed by Michael Adebolajo and Michael Adebowale near the Royal Artillery Barracks in Woolwich, southeast London.

Rigby was off duty and walking along Wellington Street when he was attacked] Adebolajo and Adebowale , who were both of Nigerian descent ,ran him down with a car, then used knives and a cleaver to stab and hack him to death. The men dragged Rigby's body into the road and remained at the scene until police arrived. They told passers-by that they had killed a soldier to avenge the killing of Muslims by the British armed forces.

Rigby was yet another indigenous British victim of State enforced Multiculturalism and the blind eye that successive governments had shown towards dealing with the issue of Political Islam in the UK. Open / Comment

2022-05-21 12:20:34 This week Sturgeon completed one part of her betrayal of Scotland's children and the future of our country. Other parts, such as her desire to flood Scotland with third world Immigrants, she has not achieved yet but we are sure she is working on it.

Sturgeon claimed her defining mission was to close the attainment gap between rich and poor pupils by 2026. Well, this week she officially abandoned that pledge - though in reality it was abandoned a good while ago.

As usual they tried to blame this on various other factors such as COVID, which caused schools to be unnecessarily shut for extended periods of time. The gap was not closing before COVID struck and no progress has been made since. In fact, various statistics show that things are getting worse, especially in maths and science.

Education is not only the basis of a bright future of our children, opening up opportunities for them, but also plays a major part in the future economic development of our nation. Under Sturgeon both look lost. Open / Comment

2022-05-20 10:34:38 On this day in 685 the Battle of Dun Nechtain or Battle of Nechtansmere was fought between the Picts, led by King Bridei Mac Bili, and the Northumbrians, led by King Ecgfrith,

The battle site has long been thought to have been near the present-day village of Dunnichen in Angus. Recent research, however, has suggested a more northerly location near Dunachton, on the shores of Loch Insh in Badenoch and Strathspey.

The battle ended with a decisive Pictish victory which severely weakened Northumbria's power in northern Britain. Ecgfrith was killed in battle, along with the greater part of his army. The Pictish victory marked their independence from Northumbria, who never regained their dominance in the north. Open / Comment

2022-05-19 17:33:38 At a time when NHS Scotland is in crisis, with staff shortages, ever lengthening waiting times and financial problems, the money spent on interpreters in Scotland has risen by 20%.

A ridiculous £7.4 million was spent on translators between 2016 and 2020 - money that could have been spent on more nurses and doctors that the service direly needs. Across the UK in the 2019/20 over £57 million was spent on foreign language translators.

NHS Glasgow and Clyde alone spent £3.6 million in 2019/20 on translators. This will only rise as immigrants are flooding into Scotland and the main political parties intend to increase this even more. It also reflects the failure of the idea of multiculturalism, where Immigrants are encouraged to come and told they have no need to integrate or learn the language but are allowed to carry on as if they were still living in Somalia, Pakistan or Nigeria.

The NHS is going to see an increasing drain on its resources from this source and it must be addressed. Open / Comment

James Boswell, 9th Laird of Auchinleck, was a Scottish biographer, diarist, and lawyer, born in Edinburgh. He is best known for his biography of his friend and older contemporary the English writer Samuel Johnson, which is commonly said to be the greatest biography written in the English language. A great mass of Boswell's diaries, letters and private papers were recovered from the 1920s to the 1950s, and their ongoing publication by Yale University has transformed his reputation. 2022-05-18 12:25:58 On this day the Disruption of 1843 occured, also known as the Great Disruption, was a schism in 1843 in which 450 evangelical ministers broke away from the Church of Scotland to form the Free Church of Scotland.The main conflict was over whether the Church of Scotland or the British Government had the power to control clerical positions and benefits. The Disruption came at the end of a bitter conflict within the Church of Scotland, and had major effects in the church and upon Scottish civic life.

Most of the principles on which the protestors went out were conceded by Parliament by 1929, clearing the way for the re-union of that year, but the Church of Scotland never fully regained its position after the division. Open / Comment
