Maybe it's better to keep it inside. Or maybe it's good to open up. It's a dilemma that puts tension on both ends. But opening up for the right person who can stitch everything back together and heal all the bruises is a blessing. On the other side, imagine pouring yourself on someone that uses all your scars against you, making you hate yourself instead of healing it: mulching salt on the wounds that are meant to be treated. And that is deadly. I can't recommend anyone to open up or not. Because I know there will inevitably be some who benefit and some who suffer as a result of it.
