When something is PART AND PARCEL of something, it is an integral, unavoidable part of that thing. You just have to accept that it’s part of it and get on with it

As Dostoyevsky once said - “Suffering is part and parcel of extensive intelligence and a feeling heart.”

Here are a few more examples:

Corruption is part and parcel of politics.
Well, mistakes are part and parcel of every job.
Dealing with parents is part and parcel of a teacher’s work.
Being recognized in the street is part and parcel of being a celebrity.
Stubbornness is part and parcel of his character.

Who Am I?

The quest for knowing thyself (yourself) and understanding personal identity.

Such a beautifully composed video to turn your beliefs upside down. At least watch it to practise your language.

My native friend backs me up on that. Nobody ever says ‘do sport’.

And don’t get me started on ‘practise sports’. Natives never say that. You can practise an individual aspect of your game. For example, in football training, I practise my passing skills.

2022-06-06 17:20:06 While I'm on the subject of what natives rarely say:

Stop saying ‘do sport(s)’. I’ve just found out from my native friend that they rarely use this phrase even though it is grammatically correct. It is more natural to use the verb ‘to exercise’ a lot or when it’s more weight-training, ‘work out’. Got it?

Do sport(s)
To train
To exercise

to tackle sth
-make determined efforts to deal with (a problem or difficult task)

at its root(s) / the root(s) of sth
-at the cause or origin of sth

E.g. We must tackle the problem of global warming at its roots.

More examples:
- The root of the problem lies in people’s apathy.
- It’s high time we tackled corruption.
- Leaders have promised to tackle climate change.
- Global warming stems from excessive fossil fuel consumption, the roots of which must be tackled for the sake of humanity.
