2021-06-19 12:30:02 Good jewellery as an investment.

It's not.

Why?

1) When you buy jewellery, you pay a making charge of roughly 10%.
So if you buy good jewellery worth ₹100/-, you get gold worth ₹90/-.

2) if you exchange this later, you pay a further 10%.
Now, the gold you get is worth ₹81/-.

So, you need gold rates to increase by 20% to just break even.

3) Storage charges if you keep it in a bank light

4) Will you actually every sell your jewellery in any case at all?
Investments are considered good only if you can redeem them easily.

Buy all the jewellery you want, but consider it an expense for your enjoyment, not an investment

2021-06-18 15:30:00 Investing in stock markets is much more than knowing which stock you should invest in.

You must have heard stories of how investing ₹10,000/- in XYZ stock 10 years back would have become over a crore by now. But do you think you would have had the patience to hold on to the stock when it was giving a 100% return after a year.
Also, would you have had the conviction to hold on to it when it dipped and lost 50% value after a few years?

Without patience, conviction in the choice of your stock, and risk management, all the knowledge in the world won't help.

1) invest only in companies you believe in. Only that belief will allow you to hold on while the stock price goes up and down
2) invest money that you won't need for at least 5 years
3) don't get sold on free tips, friendly recommendations, penny stocks etc.
4) get very rich over time

2021-06-18 12:30:00 Avoid timing the market

Accurately forecasting the market movement is difficult even for seasoned investors.

The economic, political, social, and other factors that affect the stock market are highly unpredictable.

Markets may continue to rise even if it is overvalued, and it could prolong its fall even after huge corrections.

2021-06-17 15:30:03 Benefits you can derive without spending a single minute or rupee

The human brain is an organ that improves through mental stimulation. If you don’t exercise your brain, it loses its knowledge.

Using your opposite hand will strengthen neural connections in your brain, and even grow new ones. It’s similar to how physical exercise improves your body’s functioning and grows muscles.

Today's tip:
Brush your teeth with your other hand. You’ll probably notice it’s much harder to be precise with your movements.

For example, if you’re right-handed, the right-hand side of the brain, is worked less than the left. As the right-hand side also controls things like problem-solving and creativity, it would be clearly beneficial to get used to activating and working this side more! As it is effectively like learning a new skill, using the “wrong” hand regularly will make new connections and work both sides of the brain, improving its function and performance.

Doing tasks with the opposite hand, such as brushing your teeth, can be an easy and low-pressure way to practice the challenge of starting new habits.

Best case: Your brain gets stronger, and you become smarter
Worst case: You feel much much, fresher after brushing your teeth.

2021-06-17 06:30:02 TABATA TRAINING works in 20 second intervals of high intensity exercise, followed by 10 seconds of rest, and repeated eight times for a total of four minutes.

The reason this type of HIIT workout works so well is because of the work-to-rest ratio. You only get 10 seconds of rest between each 20-second bout of exercise.

With today's studies, it's unfair to say we don't exercise our bodies because of a lack of time

4 MINUTES ARE ENOUGH to start with

If you don't find the time and energy to follow this, please don't tell anyone that you are serious about being fit.

PS: Do just how much is comfortable for you, but start moving your body. Sitting is making you very very unhealthy.

2021-06-16 15:30:02 The importance of your own research

Today's topic for against every teaching philosophy there is. It effectively negates my role. But it's important for you, so here it is.

No one can agree with everything someone says.
You might not agree with everything I post here.
Even if you do, chances are that you might not be able to follow it for long.

Why?

Because it's my idea, my research, my conviction that I'm teaching you.
(It doesn't help that most of my ideas are relatively new.)

If you're ever in doubt, you have Google. Search for yourself. And when you see that most new science is agreeing with everything I mention here, you'll probably find it easier to implement.

So do your research, take advantage of the internet, for anything anyone tells you.

Don't forget that the benefits are yours if you take action on my advice available to you free of cost, and so are the losses if you don't take action.

2021-06-16 12:30:00 The best financial feeling in the world is seeing your bank account balance grow.

But how will it grow if you leave your money there? At an interest of 3.5 - 5%.

It sounds counterintuitive, but you need to withdraw money and invest it to make it grow.

Keep only your regular usage money, and at max your emergency fund in your bank account.
Every other penny should immediately be invested to get returns greater than the rate of inflation. This also makes you less likely to spend your money unnecessarily.

Make a financial plan, consult an advisor, and stop hoarding money in your savings account.

2021-06-16 09:30:02 The way exercising our bodies is necessary, the same is mandatory for our brains.
After all, a majority of the work we today is dependent on our brains, not our bodies.
But since our brains can't run or lift weights, what do we do?
Thankfully, there are apps for everything.
You can try Lumosity, or any other app you like.

If you are not into apps, here are 2 of the simplest things I do to try to keep my mind sharp:

1) Whenever I need to make a list (grocery, tasks, job-related), I try to memorise it while I write it. After an hour or so, I try to recall it. Slowly, my retention has improved by leaps and bounds

2) Some math is required in required in our daily lives. Be it adding money required for something we want to buy, or calculating the change we will get back from the shopkeeper. Even though we have calculators in our pockets all the time now, do these calculations mentally first.

In a few weeks, you will find our memory and presence of mind improving.

No more forgetting why you went to room or opened the fridge.

2021-06-15 15:30:01 This is probably the most important thing you will read today, this week, maybe even this month.

STOP listening to me. STOP reading about the good things you should do. STOP talking about how you uphold your morals.

START doing. START acting on the dream you have had for long now. The outcome doesn't matter. Starting matters. If you want to be a good person, START acting ethically today. Whatever it is you desire, it will come from your ACTIONS. Not from your words, not intentions, not attempts.

Whatever it is, TAKE THE FIRST STEP, THE SMALLEST ACTION TODAY.

If you take away just one thing from this group, make it this one
