2021-07-17 20:54:50 Cubans "Disapointed" President Biden Isn’t Easing Sanctions

@G3News
: As a candidate, President Biden vowed to return to the Obama-era policy on Cuba, work towards normalization with Havana, and ease sanctions reimposed by the Trump administration. But over six months into his presidency, Biden has taken no steps to do so, despite claims that he supports the people of Cuba after recent anti-government protests.

Reporting from Havana, AFP spoke with a Cuban academic who said most Cubans are “disappointed” with Biden’s lack of action. The report said most Cubans welcomed Biden’s election after four years of worsening US-Cuba relations and the implementation of sanctions.

“Obviously, he’s disappointed many who hoped, not that he would return to the Obama policies, but that he would reverse Trump’s crudest measures,” said Carlos Alzugaray, a former Cuban diplomat.

French Protests Call for Medical Freedom Amid Government's COVID-19 Vaccine Push

@COVID19Up
: Thousands in Paris and across France marched on Saturday to protest against President Macron's plans to force vaccination of health workers and require an immunity passport to enter places such as bars, restaurants and cinemas.

Protesters say the new restrictions infringe on the freedom of choice for those who do not want the COVID-19 vaccination. The measures had already prompted demonstrations earlier this week.

"Everyone is sovereign in his own body. In no way does a president of the Republic have the right to decide on my individual health," said one protester in Paris.

The protests also included "yellow vest" protesters seeking to revive the anti-government movement curbed by COVID-19 lockdowns.

2021-07-17 18:54:50 U.S. Senator Ron Johnson: COVID-19 Turned Big Government Into Big Brother

@G3News
: Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., said on Friday that the censorship of information related to COVID-19 by the media—be it social or otherwise—while collaborating with the government is cause for concern.

Johnson said the censorship "is Orwellian. This is big government turned into big brother. It's affecting all of us. It's jeopardizing and removing our freedom. We ought to be concerned."

Johnson's comments referenced disclosures Thursday by White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki, who said that the government is working with private companies such as social media platforms to flag posts related to COVID-19 that are spreading what she called "misinformation."

2021-07-17 18:35:26 Moscow Cancels QR Code COVID-19 Restriction for Bars and Restaurants

@COVID19Up:
Moscow residents will no longer have to present a QR code demonstrating they have been vaccinated against COVID-19 or have immunity in order to sit inside cafes, restaurants and bars, according to a mayoral decree published Friday.

The decree comes into effect starting Monday, July 19, exactly three weeks after the controversial measure was put in place.

Last month, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin imposed restrictions aimed at boosting the capital’s lagging vaccination rates by requiring restaurant diners to show an official QR code proving vaccination, recent recovery from Covid-19 or a negative PCR test from within the past 72 hours. Outdoor verandas were not affected by the rule.

In addition to restaurants, the city’s clubs, bars, discos and karaoke clubs as well as children's playrooms will resume normal operations from July 19, the decree says.

2021-07-17 04:30:02 FLCCC Alliance and BIRD Group Release Joint Statement on Retraction of Elgazzar's Study on Ivermectin

@COVID19Up
: The Front Line COVID-19 Critical Care Alliance (FLCCC) and the British Ivermectin Recommendation Development Group (BIRD) are concerned over the misrepresentation of science in the recent article published in the Guardian regarding the withdrawal of Professor Emeritus Ahmed Elgazzar’s study into ivermectin that was first posted December 16, 2020.

Contrary to the voices quoted in the article, there is no scientific basis to state that the removal of one study from meta-analyses would "reverse results." Worryingly, this article’s insinuation is reported as if it is fact.

According to the most recent analyses by BIRD, excluding the Elgazzar data from the cited meta-analyses by Bryant and Hill does not change the conclusions of these reviews, with the findings still clearly favoring ivermectin for both prevention and treatment.

“This is not just about correcting facts but about people’s lives,” said Dr. Tess Lawrie, director of the Evidence-Based Medicine Consultancy and organizer of the BIRD group. “Ivermectin is already in use around the world and can reach the poorest people long before other expensive COVID treatments will ever get to them. Ivermectin has an ever-increasing evidence base that shows that it works –even the prestigious Institute Pasteur in France has confirmed that the evidence is sound.”

“When we examine the extensive evidence on ivermectin as a treatment for COVID-19 without this latest study, we still see a significant reduction in the spread of COVID-19 as well as a reduction in hospitalizations and death,”
said Dr. Pierre Kory, president and chief medical officer of the FLCCC. “All science needs to be scrutinized. As some of the most published researchers in our fields, we are used to having our work examined by others. I hope that Dr. Elgazzar’s work will be impartially judged and any errors that might be found are corrected.”

2021-07-17 03:24:14 Meet the Censored: Matt Orfalea

@G3News
: America’s burgeoning censorship movement had a great week. The White House jumped on board, with a matter-of-fact announcement that it was now helping Facebook flag “problematic posts”:

In another ominous development, Politico reported that “Biden-allied groups, including the Democratic National Committee,” were planning to:

Engage fact-checkers more aggressively and work with SMS carriers to dispel misinformation about vaccines that is sent over social media and text messages. The goal is to ensure that people who may have difficulty getting a vaccination because of issues like transportation see those barriers lessened or removed entirely.

For those who may find such developments concerning, there was solace: at least no one is policing our private thoughts. Those are still our own, correct?

Not quite, learned satirical filmmaker, YouTuber, and journalist Matt Orfalea. He’s been involved in several different slapstick-dystopian stories just in the last month or so, none more absurd than a series of YouTube warnings and strikes he received from YouTube for content not one person ever saw, or could see.

Taibbi: "What went through your mind when you saw the White House announcement about working with Facebook?"

Orfalea: "You have all these people who’ve been complaining about fascism since Trump, and then this is actual, by-definition, fascism. According to the classic definition, it includes the merging of corporate and state power."

2021-07-17 00:27:07 Another Massive "Experimental Explosion" Off Florida Hits 3.9 on Richter Scale

@G3News
: The United States Geological Survey measured another incident off the coast of Florida on Friday that hit 3.9 on the Richter scale.

It listed it as “experimental explosion” located about 100 miles northeast of Daytona Beach. It’s the same rating that happened on June 18 when the Navy set off a test explosion near its new aircraft carrier, the USS Gerald R. Ford.

That one came from a 40,000 pound explosive that shook the cameras filming the event, the first of several planned Full Ship Shock Trials.

Customers at indoor restaurants, bars and cafes now have to prove they have been vaccinated. It does not apply at outdoor venues.

People who have been vaccinated say it is the price those refusing to get the COVID-19 vaccine will have to pay.

More than 5,000 anti-vaccine protesters, some waving Greek flags and wooden crosses, rallied outside parliament in Athens on Wednesday to oppose the government's vaccination program.
