2022-01-28 20:22:00 The proper time for doing the Adhkaar (Allaah’s remembrance):

Ibn al-Qayyim (rahima-hullaah) said:

❝Allaah says:

{…and glorify the praises of your Lord in the Ashiy and in the Ibkaar}
[Surah Ghaafir (40): 55]

Al-Ibkaar is the early part of the day and al-Ashiy is the last part of the day.

And Allaah also says:

وسبح بحمد ربك قبل طلوع الشمس وقبل الغروب

{…and glorify the Praises of your Lord, before the rising of the sun and before (its) setting}
[Surah Qaaf (50): 39]

This is the interpretation of what is mentioned in the Ahaadeeth: ❝Whoever says such-and-such in the morning… and (such-and-such) in the evening.❞

What is meant by this is before the rising of the sun, and before its setting. The time for that is after the Fajr prayer (i.e. between dawn and sunrise), and after the Asr prayer (i.e. between Asr and Maghrib).

And in Saheeh Muslim, from the Hadeeth of Abu Hurairah, that the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said:

❝He who recites in the morning and in the evening the statement: ‘Subhaan-Allaahi wa bihamdihi (Allaah is free from imperfection and I begin with praising Him)’, one hundred times, he would not bring on the Day of Resurrection anything excellent than this except one who utters these words or utters more than these words.❞❞
[Saheeh Muslim (6509)]

The Prophet ﷺ said: ❝Imaan (Faith) has over seventy branches - or over sixty branches - the uppermost of which is the declaration: “None has the right to be worshiped but Allaah”; and the least of which is the removal of harmful object from the road, and al-Hayaa’ (modesty) is a branch of Imaan.❞
[Saheeh al-Bukhaaree (9) and Saheeh Muslim (57, 58) from the Hadeeth of Abu Hurairah

Once Allaah’s Messenger ﷺ passed by an Ansaaree (man) who was admonishing his brother regarding al-Hayaa’. On that Allaah’s Messenger ﷺ said: ❝Leave him as al-Hayaa’ is a part of Imaan.❞
[Saheeh al-Bukhaaree (24, 6118) and Saheeh Muslim (59), from the Hadeeth of Abdullaah Ibn Umar

The Prophet ﷺ said: ❝al-Hayaa’ does not bring anything except good.❞
[Saheeh al-Bukhaaree (6117) and Saheeh Muslim (60) from the Hadeeth of Imraan Ibn Hussain

The Messenger of Allaah ﷺ said: ❝There is never any obscenity (indecency) present in a thing except that it mars (and debases) it, and there is never any al-Hayaa’ (decency) present in a thing except that it adorns it.❞
[Sunan al-Tirmidhee (1974) and Sunan Ibn Maajah (4185) from the Hadeeth of Anas رضي الله عنه, and graded as “Saheeh” by Shaikh al-Albaanee]

The Messenger of Allaah ﷺ said: ❝Al-Hayaa’ is part of Imaan, and Imaan will be in Paradise. Profanity is from rudeness and rudeness will be in Hell.❞
[Sunan al-Tirmidhee (2009) and Sunan Ibn Maajah (1314) from the Hadeeth of Abu Bakrah رضي الله عنه and graded as “Saheeh” by Shaikh al-Albaanee]

Ibn Umar رضي الله عنها said: ❝al-Hayaa’ and al-Imaan are together. If one of them is removed, the other is removed as well.❞
[al-Adab al-Mufrad (1313) and graded as “Saheeh” by Shaikh al-Albaanee. This is a statement of a Companion]

2022-01-28 16:33:37 Al-Hayaa’: An indicator of a woman’s level of Imaan

(Al-Hayaa’: modesty, shyness, bashfulness, decency)

The distinct characteristic with which we (as Muslims) are known for is al-Hayaa’. Why is al-Hayaa’ given so much importance? It is because al-Hayaa’ is good and it only brings good, and al-Hayaa’ is not present in a thing except that it beautifies it.

A woman who is shy will not be in the gathering of men, she will not be in crowded places, she will not raise her voice in the presence of men. So, when her feminine characteristics get corroded, and she mingles with the opposite gender, her femininity goes away, or it declines drastically. It does not necessarily mean that her character is bad or that she has lost her dignity, but her femininity is part of her beauty, which goes away when it gets corroded or when she intermingles.

A woman who has Hayaa’ is the one who retains her feminine characteristics, and this is one of the characteristics when a man looks for in a woman before marriage.

Bilqees was a Kaafirah (non-Muslim). When she came to Sulaimaan عليه السلام, Allaah تعالى indicated in the Qur’aan that she was a woman who used to conceal herself, and cover her body completely. Allaah تعالى said:

{It was said to her: "Enter al-Sarh" [(a glass surface with water underneath it)], but when she saw it, she thought it was a pool,}
[Surah al-Naml (27): 44]

The glass was so transparent that she thought that she is going to step in a body of water, like a pool, a pond, or a river. So, what did she do?

{and she (tucked up her clothes) uncovering her shins}
[Surah al-Naml (27): 44]

So, Sulaimaan عليه السلام corrected her and said that this is a glass floor over the body of the water, you won’t get wet, so she let down her garments and covered her shins.

{Sulaimaan said: "Verily, it is al-Sarh [(a glass surface with water underneath it)] paved smooth with slab of glass." She said: "My Lord! Verily, I have wronged myself, and I submit (in Islaam, together with Sulaimaan, to Allaah, the Lord of the Aalameen (mankind, Jinn and all that exists)."}
[Surah al-Naml (27): 44]

Allaah تعالى also mentioned about the character of one of the two sisters whom Moosaa عليه السلام helped in drawing water from the well:

فَجَاءَتْهُ إِحْدَاهُمَا تَمْشِي عَلَى اسْتِحْيَاءٍ قَالَتْ إِنَّ أَبِي يَدْعُوكَ لِيَجْزِيَكَ أَجْرَ مَا سَقَيْتَ لَنَا

{Then there came to him one of the two women, walking shyly. She said: "Verily, my father calls you that he may reward you for having watered (our flocks) for us."}
[Surah al-Qasas (28): 25]

Bilqees covered her shins even though she was a Kaafirah. So, if that was the case of the Kuffaar women, then the Muslim women are more obliged to cover themselves properly. But these days, the clothes are so short that the feet are showing, the body shape is revealed, and the clothes are getting shorter and shorter so that the shins are showing, the knees are showing, and tight clothes which reveal their chests and backside. This is calamity which we are seeing everywhere around the world.

This is why Islaam calls towards this characteristic, i.e., al-Hayaa’ (shyness, bashfulness, modesty). Her Hayaa’ is an indicator of her level of Imaan.

The Messenger of Allaah ﷺ said: ❝Every religion has its distinct characteristic, and the distinct characteristic of Islaam is al-Hayaa’ (modesty, shyness).❞
[Sunan Ibn Maajah (4181, 4182) from the Hadeeth of Anas and Ibn Abbaas رضي الله عنهم and graded as “Hasan” by Shaikh al-Albaanee. See al-Saheehah (940). Also graded as “Hasan” by Shuaib al-Arnaoot]

2022-01-27 15:46:02 When intellect (or personal opinion) is given preference and precedence over Sharee Text

﴿ ﻗَﺎﻝَ ﺳَﺂﻭِﻱ ﺇِﻟَﻰٰ ﺟَﺒَﻞٍ ﻳَﻌْﺼِﻤُﻨِﻲ ﻣِﻦَ ﺍﻟْﻤَﺎﺀِ﴾

{(The son) replied: "I will betake myself to a mountain, it will save me from the water."}
This is using one's intellect

{(Noah) said: "This day there is no saviour from the Decree of Allaah except him on whom He has mercy."}
This is Revelation

﴿ﻭَﺣَﺎﻝَ ﺑَﻴْﻨَﻬُﻤَﺎ ﺍﻟْﻤَﻮْﺝُ ﻓَﻜَﺎﻥَ ﻣِﻦَ ﺍﻟْﻤُﻐْﺮَﻗِﻴﻦَ﴾

{And a wave came in between them, so he (the son) was among the drowned.}
This is the end result

[Surah Hood (11):43]

Anyone who gives preference to his intellect over the Textual evidences from the Qur’aan and the Sunnah will drown in the darknesses of desires and Bidah

Ibn Taymiyyah رحمه الله said:
❝Whoever gets in the habit of opposing the Text with his intellect, Imaan will not remain in his heart for long.❞

2022-01-25 05:34:11 The prescribed way of making Dhirk VS. the Sufee way:

In the Sunnah, it is prescribed to add a prefix or suffix to the name, “Allaah”, while making Dhikr (Allaah’s remembrance). If one were to merely say Muhammad, it does not give us any information on what is being discussed. But when one says: “Muhammad is the Messenger of Allaah”, here the sentence is complete and is full of meaning.

So similarly one says:

سبحان الله
(Sub-haan-Allaah) [Glory be to Allaah]
(Al-hamdu-lillaah) [Praise be to Allaah]
(Allaahu-akbar) [Allaah is the greatest]

But the Sufees, when they are in “trance” or “hyper” mode or when they are overexcited, they not only don’t add a suffix or prefix to the name “Allaah”, they even break up the name into two words.

They say: الل (Alla) – pause and then say هُ (Hu). This is not at all the proper way, leave alone being prescribed.

The worse is when they don’t even mention Allaah’s name at all, and they just go هُ هُ هُ (Hu Hu Hu Hu). This is definitely not the remembrance of Allaah. This is not even addressing Allaah. The word in the Qur’aan is هُوَ (Huwa, which means “he” in English) and not merely هُ (Hu, which is only making a sound, without any meaning).

Even if they were to say هُوَ (Huwa), they are only saying: “He”, which is again an incomplete sentence, void of any meaning. He what?! Are they referring to His greatness; or His Mercy?

In the Qur’aan, WHILE REFERRING TO ALLAAH, the word هو (Huwa) is always followed by a description:

اللَّـهُ لَا إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْحَيُّ الْقَيُّومُ
{Allaahu La ilaaha illaa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He), the Ever Living, the One Who sustains and protects all that exists}

{He is the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful}

{He is the One Who accepts repentance, the Most Merciful}

{And He is the All-Hearer, the All-Knower}

{He it is Who created for you…}

Allaahumma ainnee alaa dhikrika wa shukrika, wa husni `ibaadatika

O Allaah, help us in remembrance of You, expressing gratitude to You AND WORSHIP YOU IN THE BEST MANNER.

2022-01-24 10:14:28 Be a follower in good instead of a leader in evil

Ibn Mas`ood رضي الله عنه said:
❝There will be Hannaat (hardship, calamities, corruption) and issues that are dubious. So you must be patient and refrain from hastiness. It is better that you are a follower in good than a leader in evil.❞
[Musannaf of Ibn Abee Shaibah (37188) al-Ibaanah of Ibn Battah (176)]

In another narration it is… ❝It is better that a man is a follower in good than a leader in misguidance.❞

2022-01-23 22:47:55 Explanation of the Du`aa for anxiety and sorrow - Hadeeth #12

Quote: The world is place of tests, trials, hardships, and afflictions, and in it Allaah تعالى afflicts His creation with one thing or the other. And from the things which the Believers are afflicted with are the enemies, who deceive them, harm them, plot against them, and invite others against them. These enmity and transgression can be from the Kuffaar, and sometimes it is the Muslims who transgress against other Muslims. As Allaah تعالى said:

2022-01-21 19:32:14 Don't be sad about a thing that was not given to you:

Ibn Mas`ood رضي الله عنه said:
❝(Sometimes) a slave (of Allaah) is concerned about a matter relating to trade (profit and loss) and leadership (government etc.) till Allaah, from above the seven Heavens, looks at him and says to the Angels: {Turn it away from him; for if I make that thing easy for him, I would surely make him enter the Hell-Fire}. Then Allaah عز وجل averts it away from him. But the person complains that he is wretched and that others are in a better position than him, whereas this was a blessing of Allaah عز وجل upon him.❞
[al-Laalikaaee (1219/4/739)]

Meaning: A person maybe preoccupied with a worldly matter, and Allaah تبارك وتعالى looks at him from above the seven Heavens. Perhaps in that worldly matter there is evil or harm for that person. So, Allaah تعالى commands the Angels to turn him away from carrying out that thing. If the person was allowed to carry out that action, it would lead him towards the Hell-Fire. So Allaah تعالى protects him by preventing him from carrying out that action. But the person complains about this, thinking that a misfortune befell him whereas it was a favor of Allaah upon him. A person is only happy with what is apparent, but he doesn’t know what hidden evils Allaah has averted away from him.

As Allaah تعالى said:

{They know what is apparent of the worldly life, but they, of the Hereafter, are unaware.}
[Surah al-Room (30): 7]
