2022-08-19 08:12:56 The simplest definition of al-Ikhlaas (sincerity):

بسم الله والحمد لله والصلاة والسلام على رسول الله ، وبعد

Ataa Ibn al-Saa’ib said: It has reached me that Alee Ibn Abu Taalib رضي الله عنه said:
❝Righteous deeds are those for which you do not seek praises for yourself but for Allaah (alone).❞

[Ibn Abee al-Dunya in “al-Ikhlaas wal-Niyyah (5)]

۞۞۝۞۞

[TN: In today’s terms, it would also include: “the number of followers / likes / hits / counts” etc. These things should not bother us or be of any concern to us. Our aim should be to seek Allaah’s pleasure. If our posts are motivated by the number of "likes" then we should bring ourselves to account because we have failed in our aim.]

2022-08-18 07:22:22 The question of Umm al-Mu'mineen Umm Salamah رضي الله عنها to the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم.

Allaah نعالى says:

{Verily, the Muslims (those who submit to Allaah in Islaam) men and women, the believers men and women (who believe in Islaamic Monotheism), the men and the women who are obedient (to Allaah), the men and women who are truthful (in their speech and deeds), the men and the women who are patient (in performing all the duties which Allaah has ordered and in abstaining from all that Allaah has forbidden), the men and the women who are humble (before their Lord – Allaah), the men and the women who give Sadaqaat (i.e. Zakaat and alms), the men and the women who observe Saum (fast) (the obligatory fasting during the month of Ramadaan, and the optional Nawaafil fasting), the men and the women who guard their chastity (from illegal sexual acts) and the men and the women who remember Allaah much with their hearts and tongues – Allaah has prepared for them forgiveness and a great reward (i.e. Paradise).}
[Surah al-Ahzaab (33):35]

Al-Haafidh Ibn Katheer reported the following Hadeeth in the Tagseer of the above ayah:

Imaam Ahmad recorded that Umm Salamah رضي الله عنها, the wife of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم, said: “I said to the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم: Why is it, that we are not mentioned in the Qur’aan as (often as the) men are?’ Then one day without my realizing it, he صلى الله عليه وسلم was calling from the Minbar and I was combing my hair, so I tied my hair back and went to the outer chamber of my house, and I started listening, and he صلى الله عليه وسلم was saying from the Minbar:

«يَاأَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّ اللهَ تَعَالَى يَقُولُ:
“O People! Verily Allaah says:

﴿إِنَّ الْمُسْلِمِينَ وَالْمُسْلِمَاتِ وَالْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتِ﴾»
{Verily, the Muslims: men and women, the believers: men and women...}”

to the end of the Aayah.”
[Musnad Imaam Ahmad (26575, 26603, 26604) and graded as “Saheeh” by Shaikh Shuaib al-Arnaoot. A similar narration is also reported by Tirmidhee (3211) and graded as "Saheeh" by Shaikh al-Albaanee]

It is sufficient for our Muslim sisters to suffice with what sufficed the Sahaabiyaat (the female Companions) رضوان الله عليهن اجمعين, and trust in Allaah that He تعالى is going to give them {a great reward}, which no eyes have seen, no ears have heard, and never perceived by any human heart.

2022-08-17 23:59:24 Do not use your intellect to judge the Deen!

Shaikh Muqbil Ibn Haadee al-Waadi`ee رحمه الله said:

❝If having a (sound) intellect was sufficient (as a guidance), then Allaah would not have sent the Messengers nor revealed the Books.❞

[Ijaabatus-Saail (pg. 366)]

العقل، هل يكفي؟

" لو كان العقل كافيا ؛
ما أرسل الله رسلاً
وما أنزل الله كتباً .

2022-08-17 15:19:17 Overview (from Shaikh Ibn al-Uthaymeen's explanation of al-Kaafiyati-Shaafiyah):

IMAAM IBN AL-QAYYIM رحمه الله, (referring to the good deeds), said: "The merchandise of al-Rahmaan (the Most Merciful) is not cheap, but it is really expensive for the one who is lazy."

SHAIKH IBN AL-UTHAYMEEN رحمه الله commented (paraphrased): "Indeed it is expensive for the one who is lazy, but the one who has zeal, then it is cheap for him. The actions for the Jannah are cheaper and easier than the actions for the Dunya. Example: For saying "Sub-haan Allaah", a tree is planted in the Jannah without (physical) efforts, tiredness and hardship, and in a place where it will be forever and ever, similarly with saying Alhamdulillaah, Laa ilaaha illallaah, Allaahu Akbar . But in this world, there is too much hardship involved in plantation; finding the right type of plant, planting it, watering it and maintaining it.

It is cheap for the one who has the zeal to do good deeds, in the sense that it is easier for him to do it."

2022-08-15 13:16:52 There are a few reasons why a person does not initiate the greetings with Salaam:

1) Ignorance – where people give little importance to the Islaamic greetings of saying: “السلام عليكم” and instead initiate their conversations with “Hello”, “Hi”, “good morning”, “good evening” or in Arabic as “صباح النور”, “مساء الخير”.

2) Negligence – not caring for the rights and honor of others.

3) Pride – Many elders and affluent people do not greet the young or the poor out of pride. They feel like it is humiliation to initiate the greetings to those who are younger to them in age or lower to them in status; or some will feel like: ‘he did not greet me, so I will not greet him either.’

4) Limiting the Salaam to only those who are known.

2022-08-15 01:58:27 Salvation lies in 3 things:

Sahl bin `Abdullaah رحمه الله said:

“Salvation lies in three things:
Eating the Halaal.
Performing the obligations.
Following (emulating) the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم."

[Tafseer al-Qurtobee]

قال سهل بن عبد الله –رحمه الله-: النجاة في ثلاثة :
أكل الحلال ،أداء الفرائض ، الاقتداء بالنبي صلي الله عليه وسلم .

2022-08-11 07:32:03 The meaning of the phrase: ❝ {O you who believe!}❞

Ibn Masood and other scholars of the Salaf said:

❝When you hear Allaah تعالى saying in the Qur’aan:

يَـأَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ

{O you who believe!}, then listen with full attention, for it is either some goodness that Allaah تعالى is enjoining, or an evil that He is forbidding.❞

[Tafseer Ibn Katheer [Surah al-Baqarah (2): 23]]

Shaikh Ibn al-Uthaymeen said:

❝The phrase {O you who believe!} indicates that acting upon the command with firm belief or complete obedience is one of the requisites of Imaan.

Similarly, it also indicates that opposing the command or doubting it or belying it is the negation of Imaan – either in total or in perfection (i.e. either a person may lose his Imaan completely or there will be deficiency in it).

Thirdly, in this there is motivation and allurement for the one being addressed, as if He تعالى is saying: If you truly believe, then hear and obey.❞

[Tafseer of Surah al-Maaidah (5): 90 by Shaikh Ibn al-`Uthaymeen]

2022-08-11 05:31:04 This is the explanation of the Hadeeth “The religion is sincerity” by:

Shaikh Muhammad Ibn Saaleh al-Uthaymeen from the books: a) Sharh Riyaadh al-Saaliheen and b) Sharh al-Arbaeen al-Nawawiyyah

And by:
Shaikh Saaleh Ibn Fawzaan al-Fawzaan from the book: Sharh al-Arbaeen al-Nawawiyyah

The purpose was to gather all the benefits regarding this Hadeeth, mentioned in these three different books by these two noble Shaikhs and combine them into one book for the maximum benefit and understanding.

This Hadeeth is from the Jawaami al-Kalim (concise in wording but comprehensive in meaning), In a few words the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم explained the rights of Allaah, His Book, His Messengers, the Imaams and the common Muslims have upon us. When the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said: “The religion is sincerity”, it means the essence of this Deen is nothing but Naseehah. And this is why it becomes more important for us to understand this Hadeeth as explained by the scholars.
