{Verily, those who believe not in the Hereafter, We have made their (evil) deeds fair-seeming to them, so they wander about blindly. They are those for whom there will be an evil torment (in this world). And in the Hereafter, they will be the greatest losers.}
[Surah al-Naml (27): 4-5]

Meaning: The reality is twisted for them so that they are made to see the falsehood as righteousness and righteousness as falsehood.

Imaam Al-Awzaaee رحمه الله said: ❝When Allaah تعالى intents evil for a people, He تعالى opens for them the door of argument (and quarrel), and distracts them from (doing righteous) deeds.❞
[Taareekh Damishq of Ibn Asaakir, Siyar Alaam al-Nubalaa' of al-Dhahabee]

Asalah (عسله): being honeyed or sweetened. It is a term used when honey is added to a thing. When honey is poured over food, it sweetens it. Similarly, when a person does righteous deeds, Allaah is pleased with him and He تعالى makes the people be pleased with him. Like how the honeybee only consumes from the good, and what comes out of its belly, the honey, is good and pure. Similarly, a Muslim is obliged to do good, so that only purity and piety remains in him, and the impurities and sins are removed from him by Allaah’s Will.

When Allaah تعالى intends good for a slave, He تعالى not only shows him the right from the wrong, but He تعالى also helps and makes it easy for him to do good deeds before his death. A person may do good deeds and his soul is captured while he is in that state or in other cases his soul is taken after he has completed the act. The acts can be Salaah (prayers), Siyaam (Fasting), Sadaqah (charity), or any other good deed.

If a person had fallen into acts of sin and disobedience, Allaah تعالى guides him towards repentance, as Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله said: ❝If Allaah wants good for His slave, He تعالى opens for him the doors of repentance, remorse, abasement, humility, dependence (upon Allaah for the needs), seeking help from Him; the doors of perpetual humility, supplication, and seeking nearness to Him by means of whatever good works he can manage—so that his wrong may become a means to Allaah’s mercy.❞
[al-Waabil al-Sayyib (1/6)]

In the Hadeeth reported by Imaam Muslim in his Saheeh, the Prophet ﷺ said: ❝Every slave would be raised (in the same very state) in which he dies.❞
[Saheeh Muslim (2878)]

And from the Hadeeth of Sahl Ibn Sad رضي الله عنه that the Prophet said ﷺ said: ❝A person may do deeds that seem to the people as the deeds of the people of Paradise while in fact, he is from the dwellers of the (Hell) Fire: and similarly a person may do deeds that seem to the people as the deeds of the people of the (Hell) Fire while in fact, he is from the dwellers of Paradise. Verily, the (reward of) the deeds done, are decided by the last actions (deeds).❞
[Saheeh al-Bukhaaree (6493, 6607)]

All these Ahaadeeth are an inspiration and encouragement to not only live upon Islaam but also to die upon it. One should not rely on his past deeds. One should keep performing righteous deeds till his death. As this is also mentioned in the Qur’aan as well. As Allaah تعالى said:

يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اتَّقُوا اللَّهَ حَقَّ تُقَاتِهِ وَلَا تَمُوتُنَّ إِلَّا وَأَنتُم مُّسْلِمُونَ

{O you who have believed, fear Allaah as He should be feared and do not die except as Muslims [in submission to Him]}
[Surah aal-Imraan (3): 102]

And Allaah تعالى also:

وَاعْبُدْ رَبَّكَ حَتَّىٰ يَأْتِيَكَ الْيَقِينُ

{And worship your Lord until there comes to you the certainty (i.e., death).}
[Surah al-Hijr (15): 99]

The saying of the Prophet ﷺ: ❝He uses him❞. One has to know O slaves of Allaah, if he is working for Allaah or working for other than Allaah. The people are divided into two categories: A group which Allaah uses for righteous deeds, and a group which Allaah replaces.

2022-05-22 17:21:31 May you be honeyed by Allaah!

HADEETH#1
The Messenger of Allaah ﷺ said: ❝When Allaah wills good for His slave, he is honeyed by Him.❞ They asked: “What does honeying mean?” He ﷺ said: ❝Allaah opens for him (the door towards) righteous deeds before his death, then He (تعالى) takes (his soul) whilst he is in that state.❞
[Musnad Ahmad (17784) and graded as “Saheeh as per the condition of Imaam Muslim” by Shaikh al-Albaanee in al-Saheehah (1114). Also graded as “Saheeh” by al-Haakim in al-Mustadrak, and Shuaib al-Arnaa’oot]

Meaning:
❝When Allaah wills good for His slave, He (تعالى) sweetens him.❞ They asked: “What is this sweetening?” He ﷺ said: ❝Allaah opens for him (the door towards) righteous deeds before his death, then He (تعالى) takes (his soul) whilst he is in that state.❞

HADEETH#2
Anas رضي الله عنه narrated that the Messenger of Allaah ﷺ said: ❝When Allaah wants good for a slave, He uses him.❞ It was said: “How does He use him?” He ﷺ said: ❝He (تعالى) guides him to do good deeds before his death.❞
[Sunan al-Tirmidhee (2142) and graded as “Saheeh” by Shaikh al-Albaanee. Also reported in Musnad Ahmad (12036, 13408,) and graded as “Saheeh as per the condition of Al-Bukhaaree and Muslim” by Shaikh Shuaib al-Arnaa’oot]

HADEETH#3
Anas رضي الله عنه narrated that the Messenger of Allaah ﷺ said: ❝You should not be amazed at (the actions of) someone until you see what his last action was. Perhaps a person may do (good) deeds for a very long part of his life, or maybe he did good deeds only for a short period, if he were to die upon that, he would enter Paradise, but his state is overturned, and he starts doing evil deeds. And perhaps a person does evil deeds only for a short period, if he were to die upon that, he would enter the Hellfire, but his state is overturned, and he starts doing good deeds. And when Allaah wants good for a slave, He uses him.❞ It was asked: “O Messenger of Allaah! How does He use him?” He ﷺ said: ❝He (تعالى) guides him to do good deeds and then He (تعالى) takes (his soul) whilst he is in that state.❞
[Musnad Ahmad (12214) and graded as “Saheeh as per the condition of Al-Bukhaaree and Muslim” by Shaikh Shuaib al-Arnaa’oot]

HADEETH#4
In another narration, from the Hadeeth of Amr Ibn al-Hamiq رضي الله عنه, the Prophet ﷺ said: ❝Allaah opens for him (the door towards) righteous deeds before his death until those around him are pleased with him.❞
[Musnad Ahmad (21949) and graded as “Saheeh as per the condition of Imaam Muslim” by Shaikh Shuaib al-Arnaa’oot]

Explanation:

It is an honor and a great favor from Allaah تعالى when he inspires His slaves to do more righteous deeds, increases their piety, strengthens their Imaan (Faith), prevents them from doing evil deeds, and makes them seek forgiveness before their death. And this is a sign of a good end. And this is the meaning of the Hadeeth.

Having a good end is a success that only Allaah can grant. And when a slave is guided towards righteous deeds before his death, it is like receiving glad tidings, it is a sign that Allaah loves him and wants good for him. A person is guided towards and is granted success to do more righteous deeds, which will be a source of salvation for him in the Hereafter.

Its opposite is also true, when the people are evil - like Fir`aoun, Haamaan, Qaaroon, Abu Jahl, Abu Lahab, etc. - and Allaah تعالى does not intent any good for them, then He تعالى makes the evil deeds alluring to them. As Allaah تعالى said:

{Say (O Muhammad ﷺ): “Shall We tell you the greatest losers in respect of (their) deeds? Those whose efforts have been wasted in this life while they thought that they were acquiring good by their deeds!}
[Surah al-Kahf (18): 103-104]

2022-05-17 15:54:06 Explanation of the Hadeeth: Being prevented from the worldly possessions

2022-05-17 14:38:24 Part 2

❝ Like the way one of you prevents his sick one from water.❞, meaning: like how one of you prevents your sick ones from drink water or eating certain food which might be harmful for them in their illness. For example, people suffering from jaundice are prescribed not to eat oily food or that are high in fats, or the one who had gone under surgery are prevented from eating solid food, etc. This is to prevent him from getting even more sick, and as a means to recover quickly.

The example of water has been mentioned here because water is one of the cheapest commodity and it is found in abundance, and no one behaves miserly with giving water to others to drink. But if a person is sick and the doctor has prescribed that water should not be given to him, his family will prevent him from consuming water, not out of hatred but out of love for him.

Similarly, to Allaah the world has no value and He تعالى spends on His creation day and night without anything being reduced from His treasures. Yet, out of love for His slaves, He تعالى prevents then from having certain things so that it does not harm them, in regards to their Deen, Dunya, and Aakhirah.

This is a prophetic teaching, guidance for the Muslims, and as a means to keep them firm upon the religion during hardships. All this takes place by the Will of Allaah and His Decree. So, a person should not be alarmed by it. Rather, he should ponder over the Wisdom of Allaah, and be patient during the hardships, and be at ease that whatever Allaah has decided for him is only good and beneficial.

From this Hadeeth, one also learns that when Allaah تعالى prevents a thing from His righteous slaves, it is not because He is angry at them, or displeased with them, rather, it is because He تعالى loves them and is preventing from them that which is harmful for them in the wordly matter or in regards to their Hereafter.

2022-05-17 14:38:24 Explanation of the Hadeeth: Being prevented from worldly possessions

Qataadah Ibn al-Numaan رضي الله عنه narrated that the Messenger of Allaah ﷺ said:
❝When Allaah loves a slave, He prevents him from the world, just as one of you prevents his sick (relative) from water.❞
[Sunan al-Tirmidhee (2036) and graded as “Saheeh” by Shaikh al-Albaanee. Saheeh Ibn Hibbaan (669) and graded as “Saheeh as per the condition of Imaam Muslim” by Shaikh Shuaib al-Arnaoot]

Explanation:

It is from the Wisdom of Allaah سبحانه وتعالى that He afflicts His sincere believing righteous slave by preventing him from receiving some of the things of the world - the things which people think are beneficial and essential for having a comfortable life. But these afflictions serve a purpose:

One: The afflictions are as test of Faith, as Allaah تعالى said:

أَحَسِبَ النَّاسُ أَن يُتْرَكُوا أَن يَقُولُوا آمَنَّا وَهُمْ لَا يُفْتَنُونَ ‎*‏ وَلَقَدْ فَتَنَّا الَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ ۖ فَلَيَعْلَمَنَّ اللَّهُ الَّذِينَ صَدَقُوا وَلَيَعْلَمَنَّ الْكَاذِبِينَ

{Do people think that they will be left alone because they say: “We believe” and will not be tested. And We indeed tested those who were before them. And Allaah will certainly make (it) known (the truth of) those who are true and will certainly make (it) known (the falsehood of) those who are liars, (although Allaah knows all that before putting them to test).}
[Surah al-Ankaboot (29): 2-3]

And there are other similar Aayaat.

Two: The afflictions are for purifying the person of his sins, like how impurities are removed from gold and other precious metals.

Musab bin Sa`d narrated from his father that a man said: O Messenger of Allaah ﷺ! Which of the people is tried most severely? He ﷺ said: ❝The Prophets, then those nearest to them, then those nearest to them. A man is tried according to his (firmness in) religion; if he is firm in his religion, then his trials are more severe, and if he is frail in his religion, then he is tried according to the strength of his religion. The servant shall continue to be tried until he is left walking upon the earth without any sins.❞
[Sunan al-Tirmidhee (2398) and Sunan Ibn Maajah (4023) and graded as “Hasan-Saheeh” by Shaikh al-Albaanee]

Three: It is a great favor from Allaah:

The Messenger of Allaah ﷺ said: ❝When Allaah has previously decreed for a servant a rank which he has not attained by his action, He afflicts him in his body, or his property or his children. So that He may bring him to the rank previously decreed for him by Allaah.❞
[Sunan Abu Dawood (3090), and graded as "Saheeh" by al-Albaanee in al-Saheehah (2599)]

When a person whom Allaah loves fails to reach the rank that was decreed for him by Allaah because of his own shortcomings, then Allaah puts him in trials so that his rank is elevated.

So, when Allaah intends to do good to a person, he afflicts him. As the Prophet ﷺ had said: ❝If Allaah wants to do good to somebody, He afflicts him with trials.❞
[Saheeh al-Bukhaaree (5645)]

A person who has been afflicted might not see or understand the reason why he is being prevented, nor does he know the reward he is receiving because of his patience.

In this Hadeeth, the Messenger of Allaah ﷺ said: ❝When Allaah loves a slave, He prevents him from the world...❞, meaning: He تعالى keeps him away from everything that is harmful to him in his religious affairs and worldly matters.

Allaah تعالى prevents a person from some of the wordly possession, or wealth, or some high position, or from anything of this world which would be harmful for him, or whose consequences would be disasterous.

Allaah تعالى also prevents this from the person so that the person’s heart is not attached to the glamours of this world. As most people with sick hearts are those who are deceived by the worldly glitters, or those whose love for the world is ever great.

2022-05-16 23:35:02 When it comes to facing trials, people behave in the following ways, and all of these are bad manners with Allaah:

. Blaming Allaah for the calamities: Even though the calamities we face are because of our sins, yet we like to transfer the blame on others to feel better.

إِنَّ الْإِنسَانَ لِرَبِّهِ لَكَنُودٌ

{Verily! Man is ungrateful to his Lord}
[Surah al-`Aadiyaat (100): 6]

Al-Hasan al-Basree رحمه الله said: “al-Kanood”, meaning: ❝The one who is ungrateful. He who counts the calamities (that befall him), and he forgets Allaah’s favors (upon him).❞
[Tafseer Ibn Katheer, Tafseer Ibn Abee Haatim]

Man has a habit of complaining: “O Allaah! Why does this happen to me?”, “O Allaah! When will I find relief?”, “Why is it always me?”.

. We complain to the creation about the Creator: Instead of raising the hands towards Allaah and beseeching Him for our needs, and for relief from our hardships, we complain to the creation that we have been suffering for so long. The whole night we can chat with our friends to get some solacement, but we cannot stand for an hour in the night.

Every night Allaah descends to the lower Heaven and asks: {Is there anyone to invoke Me that I may respond to his invocation? Is there anyone to ask Me so that I may grant him his request? Is there anyone asking My forgiveness so that I may forgive him?}
[Saheeh al-Bukhaaree and Saheeh Muslim]

Yet we stay awake the whole night and sleep just before Fajr!

. We stop supplicating altogether: The Hadeeth in this regard is well known: Allaah’s Messenger ﷺ said: ❝The invocation of anyone of you is granted (by Allaah) if he does not show impatience by saying: “I invoked Allaah, but my request was not granted.”❞
[Saheeh al-Bukhaaree and Saheeh Muslim]

In the narration of Saheeh Muslim it is reported that the Prophet said: ❝The supplication of the servant is granted in case he does not supplicate for sin or for severing the ties of blood, or he does not become impatient.❞ It was said: Allaah's Messenger! what does: “If he does not grow impatient" imply? He ﷺ said: ❝That he should say like this: “I supplicated and I supplicated but I did not find it being responded”, and thus he becomes frustrated and abandons supplication.❞
[Saheeh Muslim (6595)]

We are impatient and get frustrated very easily, and when we see there is a delay in the response to our supplications, we get disheartened and abandon supplicating altogether. Except those amongst us whom Allaah تعالى has protected.

We beseech Allaah that He تعالى guides us to always have good thoughts about him.

The Prophet ﷺ said: ❝Let none of you die except thinking positively of Allaah.❞
[Saheeh Muslim (6875)]

2022-05-14 21:21:37 Allaah تعالى will not let His slaves suffer from fear in both the realms:

The Prophet ﷺ said: ❝Allaah سبحانه وتعالى says: {By My might! I will never combine in My slaves two fears and two safeties. If he feared Me in the world, I would make him feel safe on the Day of Judgment. If he felt secured from Me in the world, I will cast fear on him on the Day of Judgment.}❞

[Saheeh Ibn Hibbaan (640) and graded as “Hasan-Saheeh” by Shaikh al-Alaabee due to corroborating chains in al-Saheehah (742 and 2666). Also graded as “Hasan” by Shaikh Shu`aib al-Arnaa’oot in his checking of Saheeh Ibn Hibbaan]
