2021-10-15 07:59:29 From the statements of the Salaf regarding Duaa

بسم الله والحمد لله والصلاة والسلام على رسول الله ، وبعد

6. Supplicate for yourself:

Aaishah رضي الله عنها said to her nephew: “You supplicating for yourself is better than some storyteller supplicating for you.”
[Musannaf Ibn Abee Shaibah (29230)]

On the authority of Abdullaah bin Abu Saaleh: Once Tawoos paid me a visit while I was sick and I said to him: O Abu Abdul-Rahmaan! Supplicate to Allaah for me. So he said: “You supplicate for yourself, for He (Allaah تعالى) responds (more quickly) to those who are in distress when they pray to Him.”
[Sifat al-Safwah of ibn al-Jawzee (1/454)]

5. Supplicate like a drowning person:

Hudhaifah رضي الله عنه said: “Soon a time is coming upon the people when no one will be saved except the one who supplicates, like how a drowning person would supplicate.”
[Musannaf ibn Abee Shaibah (29173, 37145, 37146) and Shuab al-Imaan (1078)]

And on the authority of Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه who said: “There will be a Fitnah (and at that time) no one will be saved except the one who supplicates like how a drowning person would supplicate.”
[Musannaf ibn Abee Shaibah (37749)]

[Note: A similar narration has been attributed to the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم but it has been graded as “Munkar” (Rejected) by Shaikh al-Albaanee in al-Dhaeefah (5467)]

**Sometime back, when the Egyptian crisis escalated, Shaikh al-Fawzaan حفظه الله and other scholars had advised to stay away from the Fitnah and make Duaa to Allaah تعالى for the welfare of the people. But some brothers said: “should we sit at home like women doing nothing?” So went out on the street and what happened next was bloodbath! What happened in Syria and Libya? Till this day these people are suffering. Millions are scattered, many lost their lives, their loved ones, their properties, honored ones became disgraced. May Allaah rectify the situation of the Ummah and return to it it's tranquility and peace.

Abu Maalik said: When al-Hasan (al-Basree) was asked: Won’t you revolt (against the ruler), so as to bring about the (desired) change? He replied saying:
“Verily! Allaah brings about the change with (sincere) repentance (that which is) not attained with the sword.”

4. Make a lot of Duaa in your times of Ease:

Abu al-Dardaa’ رضي الله عنه said: “Supplicate to Allaah in your days of ease, so that perhaps He تعالى may respond to you in your days of hardship.”
[Shuab al-Imaan (1101) and Hilyatul Awliyaa’ (1/225)]

There is a Hadeeth with a similar meaning:

Narrated Abu Hurairah: Allaah’s Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم said: “Whoever would be pleased to have Allaah respond to him during hardship and disaster should make much Duaa’ in times of ease.”
[Tirmidhee (3382) and graded as “Hasan” by Shaikh al-Albaanee]

2021-10-14 00:43:32 I sensed that my silence is more beautiful than that I should break it to say something which others might not understand. My silence doesn't mean that I'm ignorant of what is going on around me! Rather, what is going on around me doesn't deserve to be talked about.

3. Don't be inattentive while making Duaa:

Abdullaah ibn Masood رضي الله عنه said: “Allaah تعالى does not accept the Duaa except those that are done sincerely (and with devotion). Allaah تعالى does not accept those Duaa that are done for making the people hear it, or for showing off, or done playfully, or inattentively, except those that are done with a firm heart.”
[Shuab al-Imaan (1096)]

Abdul-Rahmaan ibn Yazeed said: Al-Rabee used to go to Alqamah every Friday. When I was not there, they would send for me. Once he (al-Rabee) came when I was not there. Alqamah (later) met me and told me: Did you not see what al-Rabee brought? He (al-Rabee) said: “Do you not see how frequently people make supplications and how rarely they are answered? That is because Allaah عز وجل accepts only the sincere supplication.” I asked: Didn't Abdullaah (Ibn Masood) say that? He (Alqamah) asked: What did he say? I said: Abdullaah (Ibn Mas`ood) said: “Allaah تعالى does not listen to someone who wants other people to hear, nor the one who shows-off, nor the one who plays. He only listens to the one who makes a supplication firmly from his heart.”

2. Be devoted while supplicating:

Allaah تعالى said:

ادْعُوا رَبَّكُمْ تَضَرُّعًا وَخُفْيَةً ۚ إِنَّهُ لَا يُحِبُّ الْمُعْتَدِينَ ‎

{Invoke your Lord with humility and in secret. He likes not the aggressors.}
[Surah al-Araf (7): 55]

Umar bin al-Khattaab رضي الله عنه said: “(Duaa should be done) with devotion or else Allaah تعالى has forbidden to accept the Duaa and the Tasbeeh”
[Jaami al-`Uloom wal-Hikam (1/276)]
