2021-10-12 22:37:18 From the statements of the Salaf regarding Duaa

1. Being guided towards making Duaa is itself a big success:

Umar bin al-Khattaab رضي الله عنه said: “I am not concerned about the response, but what concerns me is the Duaa (itself). If the Duaa is inspired [1], then the answer (surely) follows it.”
[Iqtidhaa al-Siraat al-Mustaqeem (2/706)]

Note:
[1] Meaning: Not only does Allaah تعالى guides the person towards making Duaa, but also teaches him on how to make it. Like how Allaah تعالى first guided Aadam عليه السلام towards seeking repentance, then He تعالى also taught him the words of repentance, and thereafter forgave him:

{Then Aadam received from his Lord Words. And his Lord pardoned him (accepted his repentance). Verily, He is the One Who forgives (accepts repentance), the Most Merciful.}
[Surah al-Baqarah (2): 37]

Note:
[2] Allaah knows best, but this statement of Umar رضي الله عنه does not necessarily mean that a person will receive new words. Whatever has already been mentioned in the Qur’aan and the Sunnah are sufficient for us.

Example: from the Qur’aan:

﴿رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الْآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ﴾

{Our Lord! Give us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and defend us from the torment of the Fire!} [Surah al-Baqarah (2): 201]

And from the Sunnah:

اللهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الْهُدَى وَالتُّقَى، وَالْعَفَافَ وَالْغِنَى

“O Allaah! I ask You for guidance, piety, chastity and self- sufficiency” [Saheeh Muslim (6566)]

Shaikh Abdul Rahmaan bin Naaser al-Sadee رحمه الله said about this Duaa:

“(The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم) supplicated to (Allaah تعالى) with four words in which are gathered all the goodness for the servant (of Allaah) in regards to the Deen and the Dunya.”

So what is to be understood is that:

a) The person recalls the Sunnah of making the Duaa - i.e. starting the Duaa by Praising Allaah تعالى and sending prayers upon the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم. A lot of people make haste and ignore this Sunnah.

b) Allaah helps the person to recall the proper Duaa at the required time.

Example: It has become a habit of some people that when they face some difficulty, they say:

لا حولَ ولا قوَّة إلا بالله
“There is no might or power except with Allaah.”

But what has been legislated is that when faced with a difficulty, a person should say:

إنَّا لله، وإنَّا إليه راجعون
“To Allaah we belong to Him is our return.”

Another example: When in anger, the Sunnah is to seek Allaah’s refuge from the accursed Shaytaan, but instead, some people send prayers upon the Prophet

So, being guided to the proper Duaa (sometimes in a person's own words), and being able to utter it swiftly (without difficulty) is from the Mercy of Allaah.

c) The person avoids all that which becomes a hindrance in the Du`aa from being accepted. Example he should avoid sins, Haraam consumption, and avoid asking for a thing which is in itself Haraam (like breaking up of ties of kinship).]

2021-10-12 12:26:22 You completed your recitation of the Qur’aan but the Imaam has still not gone into Rukoo

QUESTION: In the silent prayers [1], if the one who is praying completes his recitation of Surah al-Faatihah and another Surah with it, and the Imaam has still not gone into Rukoo (bowing), should he remain silent?

Shaikh Ibn al-Uthaymeen:
❝No! The Ma'moom (the one who is being led in prayer) should not remain silent even if he had completed his recitation of Surah al-Faatihah and another Surah with it before the Imaam went into Rukoo. He should keep reciting till the Imaam makes the Rukoo. Even if it were the last two Rakaaat after the first Tashahhud [2], and he has completed the recitation of Surah al-Faatihah but the Imaam has not gone into Rukoo, he should recite another Surah thereafter until the Imaam goes into Rukoo. This is because one is not to remain silent in the prayers except when the Ma'moom is listening to the recitation of the Imaam.❞

[Majoo al-Fataawaa of Shaikh Ibn al-Uthaymeen (15/108)]

[1] The Dhuhr and Asr prayers.
[2] The last two Rakaaat of Dhuhr, Asr and Ishaa, and the third Raka`ah of Maghrib.

2021-10-11 19:06:35 The Hadeeth which is used as an evidence to support Mawlid – the main part is as follows:

"He صلى الله عليه وسلم was then asked about fasting on Monday, whereupon he صلى الله عليه وسلم said: “It was the day on which I was born, on which I was commissioned with Prophethood or revelation was sent to me.”"
[Saheeh Muslim (2603)]

Questions for inquiring minds:

Imaam Muslim mentioned this Hadeeth under: The Book of FASTING. If it was a day of Eid or celebration, why did he not mention it under: “the Book of Eid”? or under: "the Book of Aqeeqah"?

The Hadeeth encourages FASTING and not FEASTING or CELEBRATING.

Monday does not come once a year. Monday comes every WEEK, 4 times a Month on an average and 52 times a Gregorian YEAR and even less in a Hijri YEAR.

The Hadeeth clearly mentions the Merit of the DAY, i.e. “Monday” and not of a particular DATE. If it was so, then why did not the companions take a note of that DATE? That way there would not have been a doubt about the EXACT DATE of the Prophet’s birth. [Most of the reports which mentions 12thRabee ul-Awwal as the most likely DATE of the Prophet’s birth also mentions that 12th of Rabee ul-Awwal is the DATE of the Prophet’s DEATH. – So are they going to celebrate his birthday or mourn on his death?]

The Companions knew the DATES of the two Eids. But why did they fail to take a note of the DATE when the Prophetصلى الله عليه وسلم was born? Did they not understand Islaam better than us?

The MOST important point: If the birthday of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم was to be taken as a day of Eid or special occasion, then Fasting in it would not have been allowed, like how it is not allowed to fast on the days of the two Eids. Even on Fridays it is not allowed to fast on its own (unless a person fasts a day prior to it or a day after it). And this Hadeeth CLEARLY mentions about FASTING and not FEASTING.

2021-10-11 13:13:34 Allaah does not delay a matter except for (a greater) goodness.

And He does not deprive you of something except for (a greater) goodness.

And no calamity befalls you except for (a greater) goodness.

So, do not be disheartened...

For the Lord of (all) goodness, nothing comes (from Him) except goodness!

2021-10-10 19:12:03 How our false desires keep us away from enjoying the true pleasures:

Ibn al-Qayyim {rahimahullaah} said:

When a person says (in the Salaah):
{الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ}
He should pause for a moment and wait for the response from his Lord to him, when He تعالى says:
❝My servant has praised Me.❞*

And when he says:
{الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ}
He should wait for His response, when He تعالى says:
❝My servant has lauded Me.❞*

And when he says:
{مَالِكِ يَوْمِ الدِّينِ}
Then he should wait for the response:
❝My servant has Glorified Me.❞*

What a source of delight for the heart, comfort for the eyes and joy for the soul because of the saying of his Lord to him: ❝My servant❞ three times.

By Allaah! Had it not been that the hearts were covered by the smoke of lusts and the fog of desires, the hearts would have been overjoyed and well pleased because of the saying of their Lord and Originator to them:
❝My servant has praised Me; My servant has lauded Me; My servant has Glorified Me.❞

[The Salaah and the rulings pertaining to those who abandon it (1/142)]

* This is in reference to the Hadeeth of Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه as reported in Saheeh Muslim (775) and the 4 books of Sunan.

2021-10-10 01:42:48 Remember, any loss or harm one suffered due to…

the deception by the business partner
or the treachery by the spouse or ex (there are times when a husband is the victim, but due to how the societies has evolved, his suffering is mostly downplayed)
or the betrayal by a friend
or the overpowering by an enemy

…the other side might have achieved some gains, but it is all temporary. Today is for you to suffer, but tomorrow see how the tides will change by Allaah’s permission. If you have suffered, they will be undergoing a similar suffering if not more, but their temporary gain has masked it and deceived them.

So, in all cases, do not weaken or lose hope if you are Believers. Your Faith in Allaah should keep you strong. Not all days are similar, people receive good days and not so good days in turns. Today the oppressors might be happy, but their day will come when they will be at the receiving end too in the form of illnesses, helplessness, etc.

{So do not weaken and do not grieve, and you will be superior if you are [true] Believers! If a wound should touch you - there has already touched the [opposing] people a wound similar to it. And these days [of varying conditions] We alternate among the people}
[Surah aal-Imraan (3): 139-140]

What we Believers have to understand is that this world should not be our aim. If someone oppressed us, we do not oppress them in return. In all our actions we should seek Allaah’s pleasure. We should always fear the Duaa of an oppressed, even if he is a Kaafir!

2021-10-09 17:42:00 Fear the sins, for sometimes what you have been promised is so close and within your grasp, but because of your disobedience to Allaah it is delayed from you.

Allaah تعالى provided the Children of Israaeel with the Blessed land, and asked them to enter it and not to turn back from fighting in Allaah's cause, but they replied back to Moosaa عليه السلام saying:

{They said: "O Moosaa, indeed we will not enter it, ever, as long as they (the other people) are within it; so go, you and your Lord, and fight. Indeed, we are remaining right here." [Moosaa عليه السلام] said: "My Lord, indeed I do not possess except myself and my brother, so part us from the defiantly disobedient people." [Allaah] said: "Then indeed, it is forbidden to them for forty years [in which] they will wander throughout the land. So do not grieve over the defiantly disobedient people."}
[Surah al-Maaidah (5): 24-26]

So, because of their sin and disobedience, what was promised to them was delayed for forty years.

2021-10-09 13:57:55 The delay in response is an opportunity

During times of trouble, struggle, and unhappiness, every delay in the response to your Duaa is like a grace period, and an opportunity for you to make more Duaa to make the decision in your favor.

❝Whoever He تعالى guides, then there is none to lead him astray❞

D) Al-Hudaa is of two types:
1) Hudaa al-Irshaad
2) Hudaa al-Tawfeeq

In the Arabic language al-Hudaa also means, establishing the proofs (evidence) and clarification; and it is divided into two categories:

1) Hudaa al-Irshaad: meaning: the guidance of leading and instructing, calling people towards the obedience and worship of Allaah. This kind of guidance was the task of the Prophets عليهم السلام and their followers. The evidence for this is the saying of Allaah تعالى:

﴿وَلِكُلِّ قَوْمٍ هَادٍ﴾

{…and to every people there is a guide}

And the saying of Allaah

{And verily, you (O Muhammad) are indeed guiding (mankind) to the Straight Path.} [

And the Prophet ﷺ said to Alee رضي الله عنه: ❝By Allaah! If Allaah guides aright even one person through you that is better for you than (a great number of) red camels (i.e., better for you than to possess the most valuable of the camels).❞

2) Hudaa al-Tawfeeq: meaning: the guidance of the heart, i.e., where a person is enabled by Allaah to follow the path of guidance. There is none capable of guiding a person’s heart except Allaah تعالى, and it is from His Favor which He تعالى bestows on whomever He Wills. And this is what Allaah تعالى mentioned to His Prophet ﷺ:

﴿إنك لا تهدي من أحببت ولكن الله يهدي من يشاء﴾

{Verily! You (O Muhammad) cannot guide whom you like, but Allaah guides whom He Wills.}

{Not upon you (Muhammad) is their guidance, but Allaah guides whom He Wills.}
