2021-02-26 22:28:17 Niantic published the release notes for the new 2.66.1 version of Ingress Prime!

In addition to the previously announced "Invert" button on the Intel Map's "Filters" section, the update focuses on a couple bugfixes:

- The known bug regarding Portal History in the Scanner App where a ring would disappear after the level of the Portal changed, was fixed.
- The hard lock occurring after submitting a Portal Nomination was resolved
- The loading animation no longer remains stuck after tapping the back button when linking. (Android only)

2021-02-24 15:58:44 Also during the early hours of the European night, Niantic released an update on their blog, regarding anti-cheating efforts in their games.

According to the post, since the start of 2020, more than 5 million punishments were issued to cheaters across all Niantic games, 20% of them being permanent bans. Furthermore, 90% of players who received their first warning stopped cheating afterwards; a piece of data that Niantic defines "encouraging".

The company stated they have invested in new technology and are continuously tweaking and improving their existing detection tools in order to assure an accurate detection of cheaters and the minimum amount of false positives possible.

The Fast Track Program, introduced to try and provide a faster response to spoofing cases, has received more than 4000 Fast Track requests, of which ~70% were eligible for an expedited review.

Finally, to address concerns of remote Ingress Portals getting spoofed during Ops, Niantic is introducing new Compartmental Access Level measures which will be explained in more detail in a future Ingress Forum post.

2021-02-24 12:15:17 During the European night, Niantic announced a new Wayfarer Challenge for India, spanning from March 16th 2021 at 00:00 a.m. IST until March 26th 2021 at 00:00 a.m. IST.

Agents level 10 and higher can participate by reviewing Portals in the Indian territory, setting their home or bonus location in Wayfarer.

Just like the previous Poland Wayfarer Challenge, three reward tiers will be rewarded during the Holi Festival weekend based on the number of new Wayspots in the country.

Tier 1 Rewards - 3,000+ New Wayspots approved
20 Resonators and 20 Power Cubes at Agent Level (up to L8).

Tier 2 Rewards - 5,000+ New Wayspots approved
All rewards from Tier 1 plus 3 Rare Heat Sink, 3 Rare Multi-Hack, and 3 Rare Link Amp.

Tier 3 Rewards - 8,000+ New Wayspots approved
All rewards from Tiers 1 and 2 plus 1 SoftBank Ultra Link, 1 ITO EN (-), and 1 ITO EN (+)

Its responsibilities will be the following (from Niantic's website):

• Build trust and motivate interaction with Ingress channels through engagement programs.
• Identify, amplify, and engage with high-quality user generated content.
• Work with the support team to provide a cohesive voice across all our platforms.
• Measure, monitor, and build detailed qualitative and quantitative sentiment reports identifying trends and opportunities for improvement.
• Represent the voice of Ingress players in meetings with cross-functional partners of varying levels and job functions.
• Collate feedback from Ingress players having access to beta/early access versions.
• Perform key tasks including but not limited to workflow and process development, issue (bug) tracking and prioritization, documenting process, writing user-facing content, product support, and data analysis.

2021-02-19 03:27:19 Niantic announced a new flash Event from February 19th @ 1700 UTC to February 26th @ 1700 UTC!

In this timespan, the following bonuses will be available:

• 2X AP for 1st and 8th Resonator deploy
• 2X AP for Links
• 4 Mods deployable per Portal
• Kinetic Capsule Program distance of 4km for new Programs
• 15 minutes Drone cooldown time
(AP bonuses can be further boosted with an Apex)

Additionally, a new Link Bundle will be available in the in-app store for 2500 CMU, containing 15 Rare Link Amps and 10 Common Heat Sinks.

2021-02-16 20:33:22 Agents have reported that a Japanese game news company has interviewed Brian Rose and posted the transcript on their website. In it, Brian discusses the new C.O.R.E subscription and portal history, as well as future plans.

- The Portal History feature is planned to be enabled in scanners tomorrow, February 17th.
- Niantic is working on a Drone Mark II
- Plans to make Ingress easier for new agents are on their roadmap
- Anomalies will return once it is safe to do so, but Niantic is evaluating ways to have an XM Anomaly under the current situation.
- The Battle Beacon and its eventual role in future Anomalies is being examined.
