Adhering To The Sunnah And Staying Away From Innovation

Irbad bin Sariyah (رضى الله عنه) said: One day, the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) stood up among us and delivered a deeply moving speech to us that melted our hearts and caused our eyes to overflow with tears.

It was said to him: "O Messenger of Allah, you have delivered a speech of farewell, so enjoin something upon us."

He (ﷺ) said: "I urge you to fear Allah, and to listen and obey (your leader), even if (your leader) is an Abyssinian slave. After I am gone, you will see great conflict. I urge you to adhere to my Sunnah and the path (sunnah) of the Khulafa ar-Rashideen (Rightly-Guided Caliphs), and cling stubbornly to it. And beware of newly-invented matters, for every innovation is a going astray."

: Sunan Ibn Majah 42 | Hasan

The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said:

"Seven people will be shaded by Allah under His Shade on the Day (of Resurrection) when there will be no shade except His. They are:

1. A just ruler.

2. A young man who has been brought up in the worship of Allah, (i.e. worships Allah Alone sincerely from his childhood).

3. A man whose heart is attached to the mosques (who offers the five compulsory congregational prayers in the mosques).

4. Two persons who love each other only for Allah's sake and they meet and part in Allah's Cause only.

5. A man who refuses the call of a charming woman of noble birth for an illegal sexual intercourse with her and says: I am afraid of Allah.

6. A person who practises charity so secretly that his left hand does not know what his right hand has given (i.e. nobody knows how much he has given in charity).

7. A person who remembers Allah in seclusion and his eyes become flooded with tears."

: Sahih Bukhari 1423

"The virtue mentioned in the Hadith is not confined to men, but rather is applicable to both men and women.."

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:

"Whoever among you wakes up in the morning secured in his dwelling, healthy in his body, having his food for the day, then it is as if the world has been gathered for him."

: Tirmidhi 2346 | Hasan

Doubtless the three basic necessities of life are: (i) peace and security, (ii) health and physical well-being, and (iii) food. So, anyone having these has all that he needs.

TRUST IN ALLAH But Tie Your Camel

Anas bin Malik (رضى الله عنه) narrated that a man said: "Oh Messenger of Allah! Shall I tie it (my camel) and rely (upon Allah), or leave it loose and rely (upon Allah)?"

He (ﷺ) said: "Tie it and rely (upon Allah)."

: Tirmidhi 2517 | Hasan

Not only that the Hadith states it but the practice of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) also confirms that reliance on Allah in fact means first collecting all the means possible for a thing, and then leaving the result to the Causer of all causes, i.e. Allah. Reliance on Allah does not mean giving up the means and just sitting and hoping for Allah's munificence and help. Of course, the end result or success in one's efforts rests only in the Hands of Allah.

STICK TO QURAN AND SUNNAH

In his Khutbah, the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to praise Allah as He deserves to be praised, then he would say:

"Whomsoever Allah guides, none can lead him astray, and whomsoever Allah sends astray, none can guide. The truest of word is the Book of Allah and best of guidance is the guidance of Muhammad. The worst of things are those that are newly invented; every newly-invented thing is an innovation and every innovation is going astray, and every going-astray is in the Fire."

: Sunan an-Nasa'i 1579 | Sahih

Abdullah ibn Masud (رضي الله عنهم‎) said:

"The best talk is Allah's Book (Qur'an), and the best guidance is the guidance of Muhammad (ﷺ)."

: Sahih Bukhari 6098

Abdullah ibn Masud (رضي الله عنهم‎) said:

"The best talk (speech) is Allah's Book (the Qur'an), and the best (legal way for) guidance is the guidance (way) of Muhammad (ﷺ), and the worst matters are the heresies (those new things which are introduced into the religion); and whatever you have been promised will surely come to pass, and you cannot escape (it)."

The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said:

"Charity is obligatory every day on every joint of a human being (to show gratitude to Allah by keeping your body safe and sound you should give in charity, or do charitable deeds). If one helps a person in matters concerning his riding animal by helping him to ride it, or by lifting his luggage on to it, all this will be regarded as charity. A good word, and every step one takes to offer the compulsory congregational prayer is regarded as charity and guiding somebody on the road is regarded as charity."
