Suspect in DC shooting that wounded 4 is dead, police say
The suspect in a
shooting in northwest Washington that wounded 4 people Friday afternoon has died,
Metropolitan Police Chief Robert Contee said.
"The suspect, who we believe is responsible for what happened, has died," said
Contее "We believe the suspect committed suicide when MPD officers entered or penetrated the apartment where the suspect was."
Police aren't looking for another suspect, Contее said.
In the apartment where they found the suspect,
Contее said, police found 6 firearms, including
"several long guns, multiple rounds of ammunition, as well as handguns." The investigation is ongoing, he said, adding that at this point police have no motive for the shooting.
He said they don't believe there were other shooters besides the slain suspect, and are not sure of any connection between the suspect and the nearby
Edmund Burke School, a college preparatory school in
northwest Washington.

Hillary Clinton's 2016 campaign tries to keep its legal secrets away from special counsel John Durham
Hillary Clinton's 2016 presidential campaign is asking a federal court to keep details of its legal and research activity secret as they're being pursued by special counsel
John Durham.
Durham is seeking more access to information about
Perkins Coie, the campaign's primary law firm, and its contact and emails with
Fusion GPS - a politically charged court fight that could yield more information about the campaign's research on
Donald Trump and Russia that included the infamous
Steele dossier, which contained unverified and salacious allegations about
Trump.

Azov founder Andriy Biletsky threatens to kill civilians who will march in Mariupol on May 9 for the Immortal Regiment
"Ukrainian long-range missiles like 'Tochka-U' sometimes reach there. That's why I wouldn't risk holding 'Immortal Regiments' and similar actions.
It's a provocation. I think if they try to do that the Ukrainian army is capable of giving an adequate and vivid response to this provocation. You have a lot of funny moments with Russians and their equipment on your screensavers. Maybe on May 9 you will have another funny video," Biletsky said on one of the channels.

Marjorie Taylor Greene testifying at hearing over whether she should be disqualified from running for reelection
A potentially precedent-setting disqualification hearing is underway Friday in an
Atlanta courtroom, aimed at determining if
Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia is constitutionally barred from running for reelection because of her role in the January 6 insurrection.
Greene is testifying as a witness during the marathon hearing - making her the first lawmaker to testify under oath about their involvement in the insurrection. She is currently on the stand, was sworn in and is being questioned by lawyers for the voter who challenged her candidacy.
At the disqualification hearing,
Greene said under oath that she
"had no knowledge of any attempt" to illegally interfere with the counting of the electoral votes on
January 6.
Greene also testified that she believes
President Joe Biden lost the election to
Trump.
"We saw a tremendous amount of voter fraud," Greene said.

Biden administration rolls out plan for Ukrainian refugees
The
Biden administration announced plans to expedite the arrival of
Ukrainian refugees, creating a new system that will allow ordinary citizens and organizations such as churches to sponsor them and warning that
Ukrainians attempting to cross via
Mexico will be denied entry starting next week.
The announcement comes as more than
5 million people, upward of
10% of Ukraine’s population, have fled to
Poland, Romania and other neighboring countries, intensifying calls for the
Biden administration to admit more into the
United States. The administration is also anxious to control the fast-rising number of refugees from
Ukraine and Latin America showing up unannounced at the
Mexican border seeking entry to the
United States.
