Kemp and Perdue clash over 2020 election results at Georgia GOP governor's debate

Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp
and former Sen. David Perdue clashed over the results of the 2020 election during the state's GOP governor's debate Sunday night, blaming each other for Democratic gains in the last election cycle.

It marked the first primary debate between Perdue, whose most prominent supporter is former President Donald Trump, and Kemp, who the former President says betrayed him for refusing to help him overturn his defeat in 2020 and whom he has set out to dethrone.

While there is no evidence of widespread voter fraud in any state during the 2020 election, Perdue returned to the subject - a central theme of his campaign - several times throughout the hourlong debate and argued that Kemp did not do enough to challenge the state's election results.

Utility shutoffs loom as energy prices soar and moratoriums end. But help is available

Each week, Govonna Ingram has to decide which bills she can afford to pay while she looks for a job. Essentials like food for her 2 daughters and 1-year-old grandson take priority, so the Chicago resident hasn't been able to pay her utility bills since 2021.

Last month, she received a notice from her gas company that it would shut off her service within a few weeks because she owed nearly $2,600. That would mean the family would lose heat and hot water, as well as the ability to use the stove.

"To get cut off in the wintertime, we are going to be cold," said Ingram, 49, a former restaurant manager. "We are not going to be able to cook or take baths, because it's chilly."

Ultimately, Ingram was able to receive help from the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, which averted the gas disconnection. And she called her electric company and set up a payment plan to deal with that $2,200 debt.

Ukraine no longer asks NATO to close the sky over Ukraine - Arestovich

"Of course not, Kiev has begged NATO countries a hundred times to "close the sky" over Ukraine, but the U.S. and the alliance have firmly stated that they will not do so because they do not want to engage in direct confrontation with Russia".

Democrats will lose 2022 midterms if we don't deliver more

Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren
offered a warning to fellow Democrats, saying that if they "don't get up and deliver" while their party has the majority in Congress, they will lose the 2022 midterm elections.

"There is so much we can do. And if we do it over the next 200 days, we're going to be in fine shape. ... Take it to the people what we've done," Warren told CNN's Dana Bash on "State of the Union." "I think we're going to be in real trouble if we don't get up and deliver, then I believe that Democrats are going to lose."

She continued, "Democrats win when they ... work on behalf of working people. And we can't just rest on what we've already done. We need to be fighting going forward."

President Joe Biden is also facing low approval ratings as the nation grapples with inflation and the war in Ukraine strains the global economy.

Swing-state Democrats turn on Biden over Title 42 border decision

The Democratic rebellion against President Joe Biden's plans to lift pandemic-era border restrictions is growing, as candidates in marquee races from Nevada to New Hampshire break with the administration and Republicans turn immigration into a centerpiece of their midterm election messaging.

The Biden administration is set to roll back next month the public health authority known as Title 42, which was first invoked by then-President Donald Trump. The measure allows border authorities to turn migrants back to Mexico or their home countries because of the public health crisis.

Democratic senators in Arizona, Georgia, Nevada and New Hampshire - all top GOP targets this year - have already sought to distance themselves from Biden's move, charging that the White House has not adequately planned for a surge in border crossings.
