Vaccination News: French drugmaker Sanofi is investing €400 million over five years in a new vaccine production facility at Tuas Biomedical Park, enabling them to produce innovative vaccines on a massive scale and respond to future pandemic risks. For those in Singapore, you can also now choose the Covid-19 vaccination you wish to take.

Singapore as a Tech hub: British technology firm Dyson will hire 250 more engineers and scientists in Singapore over the next five years, as it pushes deeper into areas such as robotics, machine learning and artificial intelligence.

Finding new things to do in Singapore?: Check out these 3 new attractions that are opening in Singapore soon - there is something for the thrill seeker, the ice cream lover and the those with a love for a good view.

Thanks so much for voting last Friday! As Salted egg cereal won the chocolate vote last week, here is the review that you didn’t ask for! “This is perfect balance of the sweetness of the chocolate and the savoury notes of salted egg. The chocolate is really smooth, and there is a nice hint of spice from the curry leaves. We recommend that it's not meant for sharing!” You can also buy it online here.

Moving on from chocolate, today, we venture somewhere a little colder. In this second instalment of our Making Every Second Count series, we follow two Singaporeans embracing the big unknown and living life to the fullest in far flung parts of the world. Our friends Wei Si, based in Longyearbyen, Norway, the northern-most city of the world and Yue Jie, pursuing his Master’s in Lund, Sweden, share what it’s like to live on the Nordic fringes.

COVID-19 Vaccinations: As Singapore continues to make “steady progress” with its vaccination programme, the Government plans to begin inviting people under the age of 45 to book slots for their COVID-19 vaccination from June.

SingapoRediscovers Vouchers: About three-quarters of adult Singaporeans have not used their digital SingapoRediscovers vouchers, which will expire at the end of June. For those of you who are unable to use them, you can donate them to underprivileged families and migrant workers!

Get your cameras ready: World-renowned glass artist Dale Chihuly will bring his large-scale installations and sculptures to Gardens by the Bay next month.

Free Hand Sanitiser: Are you currently in Singapore? From 12 to 25 Apr, each household will be able to collect 500ml of free zero-alcohol hand sanitiser at vending machines across multiple locations in Singapore.

From SG to America: A new subsea cable system linking Singapore to North America will help boost digital connectivity between the regions. Spanning over 15,000km, it will link Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines, Guam and the west coast of North America when completed in 2024.

“From the minute we were born, art is a part of us. Before becoming an engineer, accountant, or banker, we were all artists first.”

In 2003, fuelled by a love for the arts and music and a passion for Singapore, Michael Tay, the then-Ambassador to Russia, commissioned Russian composer Vladimir Martynov to compose a symphony about Singapore. Today I speak to him about how his passion has led him to build he bedrock for a thriving arts scene in Singapore.
