Then you probably already know that the apparel industry accounts for about 10% of global carbon emissions!

Thankfully, you don’t have to sacrifice style for sustainability. How about swopping or renting clothes instead of buying brand-new ones this CNY, or opting for clothes made with sustainable fabrics instead of choosing fast fashion?

Case in point: biotech startup Bolt Threads, a company that #TemasekInvests in, is using tech to create more sustainable textile materials. Its spider silk-inspired fibres are spun from yeast, and are friendlier to the environment than polyester, which is made from petroleum, a non-renewable resource.

Dilhan Pillay Sandrasegara will succeed Ho Ching as Executive Director and CEO of Temasek Holdings with effect from 1 Oct 2021. He will concurrently hold his current appointment as CEO of Temasek International (TI).
 
Ho Ching will retire from Temasek Holdings and step down from its Board on 1 Oct 2021. To provide continuity during this leadership renewal, Lee Theng Kiat will continue as Temasek Board Member and Chairman of Temasek International.
 
Announcing the change, Lim Boon Heng, Chairman, Temasek Holdings, noted: “Leadership succession is a strategic responsibility of the Board. We have had in place an annual review since the early 2000s.  This is to enable the Board to be prepared for all eventualities, with various succession options over different time horizons.  
 
“As CEO of Temasek Holdings, Dilhan will have the responsibility for the Stewardship role of Temasek, particularly in respect of Temasek’s Constitutional responsibilities to safeguard its own past reserves, as a Fifth Schedule entity. The Board looks forward to working with him as the owner of those responsibilities, and will support him and his team in whatever ways needed.”
