Background Extinction is a process of natural and low-level extinction that goes on continuously due to changes in the environmental conditions; such changes may be small or big, gradual or sudden. When such changes occur, the local species must adapt itself, move to a more favorable area or become extinct.

The background extinction has always been happening and biologists say that 99.9% of all species that ever lived are extinct.

The evolution of new species from one ancestral species by living in the same habitat is called sympatric speciation.

The main mechanisms resulting in sympatric speciation involve changes in the chromosomes of the organism. One way this happens is when there is a serious error that occurs during cell division resulting in more than one copy of a chromosome(s), or the loss of a chromosome(s), in one of the daughter cells. Konark Temple

The word Konark means corner (kona) and sun (ark) and is dedicated to the sun god. It was built at the mouth of the Chandrabhaga River but the waterline receded over the years .

Though today, the temple is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and much of the structure has deteriorated, it is still one of the most popular temples in India. The structure has been built using black granite and it took 12 years to complete its architecture.

One of the most fascinating things of this temple was that the sun idol was suspended in the air as there were magnets used in the construction. So when you entered the main temple, you'd see a tall idol in mid-air. Open / Comment

The physical isolation of the biology population due to the extrinsic barrier is called allopatric speciation.

Allopatric speciation occurs when a population of organisms becomes separated or isolated from their main group due to geographical barriers.

Over time, the new groups consisting of homogenous individuals become subjective to changes via natural selection due to pressure from differences in predators, climate, competitors and resources. Populations can become isolated for a variety of reasons. Open / Comment

Kanha National Park

Kanha National Park is a national park and a Tiger Reserve in the Mandla and Balaghat districts of Madhya Pradesh, India.

In the 1930s, Kanha area was divided into two sanctuaries, Hallon and Banjar, of 250 and 300 km² .

Kanha National Park was created on 1 June 1955. Today it stretches over an area of 940 km² in the two districts Mandla and Balaghat. Together with a surrounding buffer zone of 1,067 km² and the neighboring 110 km² Phen Sanctuary it forms the Kanha Tiger Reserve."Kanha Tiger Reserve".
