Every time a believer rejects the thoughts of unbelief (kufr) and hypocrisy (nifāq) that occur in his heart, his faith (īmān) becomes more and more certain (yaqīn), just as he increases in piety and God-consciousness (taqwā) each time he hates a sin suggested by his soul and negates it and abstains for the sake of Allāh.

2021-08-08 20:02:05 THE GRATEFULNESS OF THE SPECIAL ONES

Ibn al-Qayyim (رحمه الله) said,

"The gratefulness of the common-folk is for food, drink, clothing and bodily nourishments. The gratefulness of the special ones is for Tawhīd, faith (īmān) and the nourishment of the hearts.

And gratefulness is always accompanied by increase, due to His saying, the Exalted:

لَئِن شَكَرْتُمْ لَأَزِيدَنَّكُمْ

If you are grateful, I will grant you increase. (Ibrāhīm 14:7)

So when you do not see your condition in (a state of) increase, then turn to gratitude."

"If anyone of you is offered a flower (rayhān), he should not refuse it, for it comes from Paradise."*

The Prophet (ﷺ) entered the house of Umm Sulaym, and a waterskin was hanging there, so he drank from the mouth of the waterskin while standing. Umm Sulaym stood up and cut off the mouth of the waterskin.*

He (ﷺ) was just between them in everything he had the ability to be just in. However, love- the attachment and inclination of the hearts and what is brought about by it, from desire and what results from it- is something in the Hand of Allāh; the husband does not have control over this. So he may love one more than the other, and he does not have the ability to do otherwise.

This abode [the Dunyā, i.e. worldly life] is one of constant struggle, patience, and cooperation upon righteousness and piety, taqwā, recommending each other with the truth and bearing patience there upon.

As for the abode of Hereafter, then it is the abode of reward and recompense for the good and bad that you have done. This abode is one of deeds and actions; the abode of preparation and outfitting.

Allāh, the Most High, states:

وَعَاشِرُوهُنَّ بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ فَإِن كَرِهْتُمُوهُنَّ فَعَسَىٰٓ أَن تَكْرَهُوا۟ شَيْـًٔا وَيَجْعَلَ ٱللَّهُ فِيهِ خَيْرًا كَثِيرًا

"And live with them honorably. If you dislike them, it may be that you dislike a thing and Allāh brings through it a great deal of good." *

Al-Sa'īdi (رحمه اللّٰه) stated,

"This consist of living with them honorably in statement and action. It is upon the husband to deal with his wife honorably in all which is good. This encompasses good companionship, refraining from harming (her), benevolence and good dealings.

This includes providing for her, clothing her and the like. So it is obligatory upon the husband to spend upon the wife according to what is reasonable for someone like him in relation to someone of her standing, according to the time and place; and this differs depending on various circumstances and situations." *

2021-06-30 14:03:13 A MESSAGE EXCLUSIVELY TO THE HUSBANDS

That which is witnessed in reality is that everyone looks towards the fulfillment of their own rights in this worldly life, craving and yearning for all their rights to be fulfilled and observed. This will never happen for a person. This is the disposition that Allāh has created His creation with in this worldly life: having anxiety, grief, anger, pleasure, delight, serenity, distress, happiness and adversity. Rather, you find one who diligently seeks after their rights with all their strength; and from the most rigorous of those who demand their rights from the opposite sex are the men.

The husband seeks from his wife that she should be an ideal wife: affectionate, kind, receptive, obedient to his command, attractive, enticing, charming and other than that. However, some husbands dishonor their wives and neglect the obligatory rights upon them as it pertains to them.

Yes, there are rights belonging to the husband that are binding upon the wife to uphold, but where are the wife's rights that are binding upon the husband?

It is imperative that she gives importance to beautifying the home, beautifying herself and beautifying her clothing. Giving importance to tidiness and beautification for the spouse is beneficial. All of this is expected and something good. A husband loves these things, and they are expected from the wife. This is so her shortcomings in these affairs do not become a cause for him to look at someone else or marry someone else.
