Don't worry about things you can’t control People tend to spend a lot of time worrying about things they don't control, and this causes unnecessary stress. Although these fears can be justified, they are not always productive.
For example, John recently lost his job. Now he thinks about his financial situation from morning to evening, and sometimes even at night. Lack of work is really a problem that needs to be solved. But does it make sense to worry about it around the clock?
It’ll be more productive for John to focus all his attention on what he can really control:
update his resume,
study new vacancies,
call the companies of interest,
talk to old colleagues.
After you are done with things you were responsible for, you can relieve your head of problems and switch your attention to something pleasant: family, friends, entertainment, etc…
When we are not busy with tasks that, the best thing we can do for ourselves is to enjoy the present moment. This means that if we go for a walk, we focus on the walk. If we spend time with friends, we focus on communication.
And we don't worry about what we can't control. This approach will make us feel more energetic. Reflections about what does not depend on us cause excessive stress, which exhausts us.
And the less energy we have, the less effective we act on the things we can manage.
If we stop worrying about things that we can’t control or change, then there is room in our minds that can be filled with something positive.
