Consuming herbs may help to prevent and manage heart disease, cancer and diabetes. It may also help to reduce blood clots and provide anti-inflammatory and anti-tumour properties.

Research is ongoing but studies have shown that:
• Garlic, linseed, fenugreek and lemongrass may help lower cholesterol.
• Garlic is useful for people with mildly elevated blood pressure.
• Fenugreek can help control blood sugar and insulin activity (as can linseed, flaxseed and cinnamon).
• Garlic, onions, chives, leeks, mint, basil, oregano, sage and many other herbs can help protect against cancer.
• Herbs are rich in antioxidants, especially cloves, cinnamon, sage, oregano and thyme, by helping to reduce low-density lipoproteins (‘bad’ cholesterol).

Fresh herbs often contain higher antioxidant levels compared to processed or dried herbs but if you are using herbs in order to harness their health-promoting aspects first and foremost, aim to add your fresh herbs at the end of cooking or as you serve to preserve these properties.

Fruit is delicious and tremendously healthy. But the truth is: Eating fruit for health benefits is not as simple as it seems.

The proper way of eating fruit will give your digestive system a boost.

Studies have shown that the best time to eat just fruit is in the morning or when you have an empty stomach. The optimal time to eat fruit as a snack is within 30 minutes before or after a meal.

My favorite time to eat a lot of delicious fruit is right after I wake up in the morning. I typically eat an apple, orange, and a Kiwi. Later in the morning, at least an hour after I eat the fruit, I will eat breakfast.

Stick to raw fruit. You can digest raw fruit better. Whole fruit will undoubtedly give you more health benefits than other forms of fruit.

The nutritional benefits of sweet potatoes stem from the fact that they’re loaded with many vitamins and minerals—from vitamins A and C to magnesium and potassium. They’re even rich in fiber and many health-promoting antioxidants.

I firmly believe that everyone should develop a habit of getting up earlier.

Even if you don’t think, you are a morning person.

But in the modern world, they have us believe that we are a failure if we don’t wake you at 4:30 AM or 5 AM in the morning.

Which is far from the truth.
I think it would be foolish to assume that everyone should wake up at 5 AM.

I believe that it’s an excellent idea, but whether or not you should get up that early depends on your lifestyle (a student who studies until early morning and a person which has to be at work at 7 AM, cannot form the same habit).

What you need to do is optimize your sleeping/waking up, so you can be fully rested and healthy, and that it supports your goals.

Don’t make drastic changes.

If you want to get up at 6 AM, but you’re at 8 AM.

Start with 7:45 AM. And do that for two days.

Then go down to 7:30. And so on.

This will help you create a slow transition, and once you reach 6 AM, just try to keep up the momentum, until it becomes a habit.
