• If you want to know the age of our students, at least HALF ARE 17 years old (NOT half is)

• Over HALF of my friends love mixed martial arts (NOT loves)

• HALF the patients WERE given the medicine and the other HALF WERE given placebo (NOT was given)

and vice versa:
• HALF the food WAS wasted (NOT were wasted)

1. To make up one's mind - to decide
• I couldn't make up my mind whether to study abroad or apply to a local university.

2. Easier said than done - more difficult than we think
• Some say that getting a visa to the UK isn't a problem, but it's easier said than done.

3. Last resort - the last solution for getting out of a difficulty
• Nobody agreed to lend him money, so getting a loan from the bank was the last resort.

4. Needless to say - obviously
• Needless to say, the victory in the tournament has completely changed her life.

5. Basket case - a country that is very unsuccessful financially
• Ukraine used to be a prosperous country, but now it's more like the economic basket case of Europe.
