Some candidates also argue about the number of sentences in paragraphs. Three sentences in introduction are not better than two. One sentence in conclusion is enough, and there is no necessity to write more.
Lexical items deserve more attention than the number of sentences. Using informal words and phrases is one of the main causes why the score is lowered in IELTS Writing. So make sure you AVOID using A LOT OF, LOTS OF, or A LOT in your essays.

It doesn't really matter how many paragraphs we write in a task 2 essay.
Some prefer a 4-paragraph structure while others think that 5 paragraphs are far better. In fact, the score doesn't depend on that. What we should concentrate on is vocabulary that we use in essays.

Phrasal verbs, for example, are NOT recommended in IELTS Writing. Well, there are several exceptions, like MAKE UP or LEVEL OFF, but the majority of phrasal verbs should be replaced by more academic words or collocations.

As the majority of you have chosen Writing, allow me to help you avoid some common mistakes in task 1.

The given maps aren't quite hard to describe, but we need to use grammar properly to score 7+.
Look at the sentence below:
A football stadium was built in 2010.
The sentence is wrong because we don't actually know whether it was built in 2010, 2001, or 1996. In this case past perfect is very helpful
A football stadium had been built by the year 2010.
If you aren't sure how to use this tense, don't mention the year 2010:
A football stadium was built during the given years.

Now let's have a look at a church and pub:
A church was converted into a pub in 2010 (WRONG)
A church had been converted into a pub by 2010 (CORRECT)
A church was converted into a pub during the given period (CORRECT)

Pronunciation is extremely important in IELTS Speaking, but unfortunately lots of English language learners in Urgench mispronounce certain words.
Sogdiana, a new member of our Intellectuals team, highlights some of them.

P.S. wanna join our speaking sessions?

2022-04-06 12:51:12 THEN has several meanings too.
Apart from LATER, it can also mean AT A PARTICULAR TIME IN THE PAST:
• Life was harder then because of unemployment (at that time, not later).
• I went to Bukhoro in 2006 and I haven't visited this beautiful city since then (since that time)
• I wish I had known then what I know now (at that time, not after it)

2022-04-06 12:39:29 OVER has several meanings.
Apart from "MORE THAN" this word can also mean "DURING" when used with time:
• The patient recovered over a two-year period (during two years; not more than two years).
• The chart shows the number of cars that were made in Uzbekistan over a decade from 2005 to 2015 (during this decade; not more than that).

In mathematics OVER is also used when talking about a calculation in which one number is divided by another number:
• 30 over 6 is 5 (30/6=5)
• 63 over 9 is 7 (63/9=7)
