Ingress Updates [ENG]

2023-03-29 21:27:35 At GDC 2023, the Game Developers Conference which took place last week in San Francisco, CA, USA, Niantic hosted a panel dedicated to Ingress.

A new exciting feature, which is planned to be released this summer, was announced at the event: Overclock!

Overclock is a new way to hack an Ingress Portal using AR, leveraging Lightship's VPS (Visual Positioning System) which was introduced to the Niantic Lightship platform a while back with the help of the data collected by Agents with Portal Scans!

An Overclock hack is performed by deploying a Glyph Terminal and transcribing the 3D glyphs which will be presented to you into 2D glyphs before time runs out.

The aim of this feature is to "close the loop" around VPS, showing Ingress Players what their Portal Scans are useful for, but also to finally be able to test the AR positioning in-game so that Ingress Developers will be able to experiment with it and make this new feature fun.

Hence, this feature will only be available on VPS-enabled Portals, but fret not! If a Portal nearby isn't VPS-enabled, you will be able to scan it several times to enable VPS and to unlock Overclock. After enough scans have been collected and Niantic has processed them, Overclock will become available. If you want to prepare for this new feature, you should start scanning portals during various times of the day to ensure that VPS will be enabled in time!

We are eager to hear and see more about this feature but, for now, we are going to share with you the talk given by Michael Romero (Agent micromero), Engineering Director for Ingress, where he explains the basics of this new feature.

2023-03-27 16:33:16 Niantic has restored the Camp Navarro portals that were removed a while ago!

Thia said on the forum that various protections have been applied to them to prevent a similar situation in the future and that she tried her best to restore Portal Keys to the inventory of affected agents, however there may be some gaps.

Due to this, Thia has generated passcodes that contain Portal Keys for the portals that can be redeemed twice per agent until the end of April! If you have been impacted and haven't gotten your Keys back yet or if you just want to have these special keys, follow the link below to the list of passcodes on the forum.

Our amazing Agent Ishira, also known for her Swagcapsule, the Glyph Journal and her work as an investigator and as our chat moderator, recently rescued 4 puppies that were abandoned on the side of a highway. While all the costs for deworming, vaccination shots and other bet bills have already been covered, 2 of the puppies need additional surgery ("umbilical hernia repairs") which hasn't been covered yet.

Agent @InvestigateXM is auctioning off character badges at @IngressAuctions with the proceeds going towards the surgery! Take a look at the channel and see if a badge catches your eye. At the time of writing this, $190 of the needed $800 have already been covered.

GORUCK Stealth Ops (99$)
A competitive, mental and physical challenge between Factions which is played during the Anomaly weekend on Friday @ 17:00 to 24:00 local time.

GORUCK Urban Ops (45$)
A competitive, more-mental-than-physical challenge between Factions which is played during the Anomaly Weekend on Saturday @ 10:00 to 13:00 local time.

Operation Clear Field ($30)
A service-themed scavenger hunt mixed with competitive Ingress exploration which is played during the Anomaly Weekend on Sunday @ 10:00 to 14:00 local time.

For Stealth and Urban OPS events, Anomaly Intel may be at stake!

Attack or Destroy Resonator
Destroy Portal Mod
Destroy Link
Recharge Resonator (remotely as well)

2023-03-20 11:13:21 Niantic has shared the final scores for the MZFPK Anomaly!

The Resistance clinched the victory in this global event!

RES 50.92% - 49.08% ENL

Congratulations to all agents who contributed to their Faction's score!

As an effect of the Resistance victory, the NIA has informed that Jarvis is heading to Zürich Hauptbahnhof.

2023-03-17 19:39:21 Niantic has stated to be aware that the Agent Ops button and the HexQuest tasks were activated for all agents globally at the same time, but chose to not interfere with the event.

This means that the HexQuest can be completed and the MZFPK Anomaly Badge can be obtained by all Agents even if it's not March 18th for them yet.

No info was given on the end of the event but, to make sure to be safe, IUENG still advises to complete your quests by 23:59 of March 18th local time.

Agents will be able to take part in the event from 0:00 to 23:59 in their own local time!

Complete the six challenges in the Agent Ops menu of your scanner to obtain the MZFPK Medal!

The faction with more Agents completing the HexQuest will capture this Anomaly!

2023-03-11 15:30:11 In one week, the MZFPK Global Anomaly will take place. Precisely on March 18th from 0:00 to 23:59 local time. Here is everything you need to know about the event!

Agents will receive a set of six operations on their scanner upon entering it after the event starts.
These events are called the HexQuest.

The tasks will be:
- Trek 6 km
- Complete 60 hacks
- Deploy 60 Resonators
- Deploy 16 Mods
- Earn 60 Glyph Points
- Destroy 24 Resonators

Agents completing all six operations by 23:59 local time will earn the MZFPK Anomaly medal (see picture)!

The faction with the highest number of Agents completing all six challenges will win the event and decide the destination of Roland Jarvis, in this new reboot of the game's lore, to meet Debra Bogdanovich: if the Enlightened win, the researcher will go to the Globe City Studio in Berlin, if the Resistance wins, he'll go to the Globe of Science and Innovation in Zurich.
