2021-07-09 21:10:10 Capitol Police Will Open Offices in the States to "Investigate Threats to Members of Congress"

@G3News
: The January 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol thrust its police force into a sympathetic national spotlight; like any other government agency, the U.S. Capitol Police has seized this opportunity to expand its mission and acquire additional funding.

Now the Capitol Police plans to build regional field offices in the states: California and Florida, for starters.

"The Department is also in the process of opening Regional Field Offices in California and Florida with additional regions in the near future to investigate threats to Members of Congress," notes the department in a press release.

The Capitol Police will also procure more riot gear, invest in use-of-force training camps, and provide "psychological trauma and stress" counseling for its officers.

2021-07-09 19:24:38 New Zealand Hospitals Flooded With Children Due to Immune Systems Weakened by Lockdown, Hand-Washing, Social Distancing, and Masks

@COVID19Up
: New Zealand hospitals are experiencing the payoff of “immunity debt” created by lockdowns, with wards flooded by babies with a potentially-deadly respiratory virus, doctors have warned.

Wellington has 46 children currently hospitalized for respiratory illnesses including respiratory syncytial virus, or RSV. A number are infants, and many are on oxygen. Other hospitals are also experiencing a rise in cases that are straining their resources—with some delaying surgeries or converting playrooms into clinical space.

RSV is a common respiratory illness. In adults, it generally only produces very mild symptoms—but it can make young children extremely ill, or even be fatal. The size and seriousness of New Zealand’s outbreak is likely being fed by what some pediatric doctors have called an “immunity debt”—where people don’t develop immunity to other viruses suppressed by lockdowns, causing cases to explode down the line.

The “immunity debt” phenomenon occurs because measures like lockdowns, hand-washing, social distancing and masks.

2021-07-09 16:24:55 YouTube Demonetizes Video Producer Matt Orfalea Over 7-Year-Old Parody Video

@G3News
: YouTube has stripped independent video creator Matt Orfalea of his ability to earn ad revenue via its Partner Program after it flagged a 13-second parody video from May 2014 for allegedly violating its “violent criminal organizations” policy.

The video titled “Starbucks makes you evil | Elliot Rodger” features a clip of the deceased spree killer Elliot Rodger drinking a Starbucks vanilla latte and saying: “Hey, Elliot Rodger here, enjoying a nice vanilla latte.”

It then cuts to a screen showing a Starbucks Coffee logo along with the message: “Insanely overpriced beverages for psychopaths.”

The video had been on YouTube for over seven years but this week, YouTube flagged it, removed it, and demonetized Orfalea’s entire channel, preventing him from earning from his recent work.

2021-07-09 02:29:55 Top U.S. Health Expert Says Vaccinated People Are Spreading Delta Variant of SARS-CoV-2

@COVID19Up
: Christopher Murray, the director of the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation, said that not testing vaccinated people—as the U.S. CDC recommends—may be overlooking some transmission.

"We actually have states where hospitalizations are going up more than cases," Murray said, adding that "we're probably missing a bunch of transmission in vaccinated individuals."

Other data emerging from Israel suggest that the Pfizer vaccine is less effective against infections caused by the delta variant, which may explain the uptick in U.S. infection despite widespread vaccinations.

2021-07-09 01:29:54 Caitlin Johnstone: The Assange Case Isn't About National Security, It's About Narrative Control

@G3News
: Julian Assange once said, "The overwhelming majority of information is classified to protect political security, not national security."

As someone whose life's work before his imprisonment was combing through documents of an often classified nature, he'd have been in a prime position to know. He'd have seen time and time again how a nation's citizenry are not under the slightest threat from the secret information in the documents that had been leaked to him from around the world, but that it could damage the reputation of a politician or a government or its military.

As the persecution of the WikiLeaks founder continues to trudge on with the UK government's granting the Biden administration permission to appeal a declined extradition request, claiming that it can safely imprison Assange without subjecting him to the draconian aspects of America's prison system which caused the initial dismissal, it's good to keep in mind that this is being done entirely for the purpose of controlling public access to information that is inconvenient for the powerful.

The prosecution of Julian Assange under the Espionage Act is being touted by the US government as a matter of national security; you can't simply allow journalists to publish classified information about the things its military forces are doing in the nations they occupy, because that could endanger American lives.

Leaving aside the fact that the Pentagon already admitted years ago that it could not find a single instance of lives being lost due to the publications for which Assange is currently being prosecuted, this case is not and has never been about national security. This case has always been about narrative control.

2021-07-09 00:29:55 Glenn Greenwald: The Capitol Police, Armed With $2 Billion in New Funding, Expanding Operations Outside of D.C.

@G3News
: The Capitol Police on Monday announced a multi-pronged plan to expand its operations.

Armed with close to $2 billion in additional spending which the House approved in May, the force intends for the first time to create a permanent presence outside of the Capitol, “opening Regional Field Offices in California and Florida with additional regions in the near future to investigate threats to Members of Congress.” The statement issued by Acting Chief Yogananda Pittman also vowed that the police force will continue its “pivot towards an intelligence-based protective agency.”

The significant budget increase was approved in the House by a single vote: 213-212. It was a close-to-absolute party-line vote: all Republicans voted against the increase while only three Democrats joined them. The three Democrats who joined the GOP to oppose this $2 billion in Capitol Police spending were all members of the so-called Squad who have spent years opposing increased police spending and thus voted consistently with their professed principles: Reps. Cori Bush, Ilhan Omar, and Ayanna Pressley.

But the large spending increase nonetheless passed for one reason: three other Squad members voted “present” rather than “no” in order to ensure its passage: Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Jamaal Bowman and Rashid Tlaib.
