@COVID19Up: Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson is declaring a state of emergency to give the city "greater flexibility" to deal with ongoing protests that have overwhelmed local resources.

"Declaring a state of emergency reflects the serious danger and threat to the safety and security of residents posed by the ongoing demonstrations and highlights the need for support from other jurisdictions and levels of government," said a statement from the city on Sunday (Feb. 6).

"It also provides greater flexibility within the municipal administration to enable the City of Ottawa to manage business continuity for essential services for its residents and enables a more flexible procurement process, which could help purchase equipment required by frontline workers and first responders."

2022-02-07 00:25:10 World’s First Trial Deliberately Infecting Humans With SARS-CoV-2 Found Half Did Not Get Sick or Test Positive With PCR

@COVID19Up: Healthy, young people who were intentionally exposed to SARS-CoV-2 developed mild symptoms—if any—in the world's first "human-challenge" study of COVID-19. Such trials present a unique opportunity to study viral infections in detail from start to finish, but are controversial because of the risks they pose to participants.

Researchers intentionally exposed 36 people aged 18-29 with the original SARS-CoV-2 variant via nasal droplets. Two of the 36 were found to have developed antibodies between screening and inoculation, so they were excluded from most of the analysis. That left 34.

Of those, 18 (53%) tested PCR positive, 17 (50%) of them with symptoms and one without. This means 16 (47%) never tested positive, despite being exposed via lying on their back for 10 minutes with a blob of SARS-CoV-2 infected snot up their nose.

This raises serious questions about what constitutes infection, as all participants had been thoroughly exposed to the virus with half resulting in no symptoms or PCR positivity. Interestingly, there was no correlation between symptom severity and viral load, measured both using Ct values from a PCR test and viable virus.

The results were posted on February 1 on the preprint server Research Square and have not been peer reviewed.

@G3News: When President Biden’s administration was asked for evidence to back up dramatic claims about national security developments this past week, it demurred with a simple rejoinder: You’ll have to trust us on that.

No, they would not reveal what led them to say they knew that Russia was plotting a false flag operation as a pretext to invade Ukraine. No, they would not explain their confidence that civilian casualties were caused by a suicide bombing rather than U.S. special forces during a raid in Syria.

The administration’s response took a particularly caustic turn as spokespeople suggested that reporters were buying into foreign propaganda by even asking such questions.

The lack of transparency strained already depleted reserves of credibility in Washington, a critical resource diminished over the decades by instances of lies, falsehoods and mistakes on everything from extramarital affairs to the lack of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.

The exchanges were also a sign of increased skepticism of the Biden administration by U.S. corporate media.

@COVID19Up: A healthy 24-year-old student with no underlying medical conditions from New York died shortly after developing myocarditis from his second dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine.

George Watts Jr. wanted to take classes in person, so he needed to be fully vaccinated, receiving his second jab in September 2021. A month later, Watts Jr. collapsed in his room and was pronounced dead later that morning.

An autopsy report from the Bradford County Coroner’s Office shows Watts Jr. died from “COVID-19 vaccine-related myocarditis.”

@COVID19Up: More than 10,000 protesters have gathered in Canberra, the Australian Capital Territory, to demand “freedom” and no more COVID-19 vaccine mandates.

The demonstrators, who have traveled to the nation’s capital from across the country, marched from Canberra's Glebe Park to Old Parliament house on Saturday (Feb. 5).

Protesters displayed Australian flags and placards reading “no vaccine mandate” as they marched. Speeches were given at Old Parliament House and the crowd sang along to I am Australian.
