2023-06-01 23:45:59 Niantic has officially announced the Overclock feature! They have shared a few additional pieces of information that are interesting to note:

Newly mapped Portals will be added daily
On certain Portals, Overclock might be (de-)activated without warning, for example during Anomalies
While not visible at the moment, Niantic is looking into adding markers for AR mapped Portals to the Intel map in the future
As one Overclock hack counts as four seperate Glyph hacks, the Daily Hack bonus for the first hack of the day only counts for the equivalent of one Glyph hack
For the moment, no new medals or profile stats are planned for Overclock

2023-06-01 22:59:47 Niantic has fixed the mass movement of portals that was noticed a few days ago. A restart of the scanner and the intel might be needed.

This should also resolve the problem of Portals not being able to be linked to or from due to its own links acting as blockers.

2023-06-01 22:17:46 An Overclock hack can be done with a seperate button that can now be found on the Portal detail screen. If you don't want to do an Overclock hack, you can still hack and glyph like normal using the normal "Hack" button.

2023-06-01 22:08:13 Here are our initial findings:

Overclock is active at VPS activated portals
Each Overclock hack "consumes" 4 normal hacks. An unmodded portal is therefore burned out after one Overclock hack
Depending on how well a portal was scanned, you get an output bonus up to x4, depending on how many hacks are left before burnout. If Ingress cannot localise against the portal, you can still do an Overclock hack with a normal x1 output
Heatsinks and Multi Hacks work like normal and can be used to reset or expand Overclock hacking capability
In addition to multiplied output, you also recieve a Glyph point bonus for your Translator medal depending on the multiplier
At the moment, you recieve no AP for hacking
The amount of glyphs you recieve depends on the Portal level, just like with normal glyphing
For Portals L1 to L5, you have 30 seconds to complete the hack. For L6, you have 19 seconds. L7 is unknown at the moment, L8 is 17 seconds
You can use the Command Channel before glyphing to input "More" or "Less" for more or no Portal keys respectively. "Complex" and "Simple" do not work
If you abandon an Overclock hack, you instantly "tap hack" a Portal 4 times, rewarding you with AP 4 times as well

Portals need to be scanned a lot and during diffrent times to become VPS activated. Niantic says before an activation can be attempted 10 high quality scans need to be submitted to the Portal, although more scans are highly recommended for better localisation. The first and 10th scan need to be at least 5 hours apart. Once all scans have been accepted by the system, the activation attempt has to be started manually which currently is only possible for developers of the Lightship platform using the Geospartial Browser on web or the Wayfarer App in beta on the phone.

2023-06-01 21:03:12 Overclock was just activated! You can now initiate an AR glyph hack at VPS activated portals which you can find with these white crystal. Depending on how well the portal was scanned prior, you can recieve up to x4 output from the hack. Bear with us as we're gathering all the details, we'll update you as soon as we can.

2023-06-01 19:03:05 Following Update 2.117.1, Agent using iOS are reporting issues with accessing Ingress citing black sceens, an empty map or the start of the tutorial without a way to advance or abandon it. Niantic is investigating the issue.

If you log in using Apple Sign-in, you can also try to sign in with another linked sign-in method (Google or Facebook). If you don't have an additional method linked, you can open another Niantic game of your choice and log into ot with your Apple account. You can then link another method in the settings which will also carry over to Ingress, allowing you to sign in there with Google or Facebook.

If that doesn't resolve your issue, Niantic has advised to IUENG to open a Support ticket and to mention the issues you are seeing as well as mention that you are using iOS on Version 2.117.1. NIA Ops will try to collect these cases to escalate them to the engineering team before the weekend.

2023-05-31 12:59:34 A new update for Ingress was released, Version 2.117.1!

In the Release Notes (only visible in the App Stores) Niantic officially announced the new Nearby feature and the 1331AP bonus for recapturing a Machina portal. These notes also mention that you'll initially only receive one notification per day from the Nearby feature.

While we couldn't determine a lot of changes to the previous Version, we did notice that the warning messages ("Do not trespass while playing Ingress." etc.) you had to confirm after you start the Scanner are not shown anymore. It is unknown if this is intentional or a bug.
