DID ISRA WA AL-MIRAAJ TOOK PLACE ON 27th RAJAB?

There is No authentic hadith which states that the night of Isra wa al-Miraaj (the Prophet’s night journey and Ascension to the heavens) took place on the 27th of Rajab.

Ibn Hajr (رحمة الله) said:

"Some story tellers have said that the night of miraaj took place in the month of Rajab, this is false!"

: Tabeen Al-Ajab, pg 6

Allama Ibn Rajab (رحمة الله) said:

"The narrations on the night of Isra wa al Miraaj from Qasim bin Muhammad are not authentic which state that Prophet (ﷺ) had the night of Miraaj on 27th Rajab. Ibrahim Harbi and others have rejected this statement."

: Zaad Al Maad of Ibn Al Qayyim 275/2

Ibn al-Qayyim (رحمة الله) narrated that Ibn Taymiyyah (رحمة الله) said:

"..and there has not been transmitted a single proof that is known that mentions which month or which ten day period or which exact night it was in. Rather, the narrations concerning this are contradictory and weak, and there is nothing from them that incisive. Hence it is not legislated for the Muslims to single out any night based on an assumption that it is the night of Isrā' with salah or other than that."

: Zaad al Maad 1/58

Hafiz Ibn Hajr (رحمة الله) has mentioned in Fathul Bari Volume 7, pg 242-243, about this dispute on the date of Miraaj in detail. He has listed all the opinions including Rajab and has explained in the end that the correct view is that which is of Ibn Taymiyyah (رحمة الله) in this issue which states:

"There is no authentic narration on the month and date of the night of Miraaj, there are only Munqata (interrupted) chains on this matter and they cannot be taken as evidence."

: Lataif Al Maroof of Ibn Rajab, pg, 233

••

When there is no authentic hadith which tells us about the month of this event then how can we get the authentic hadith on the date?

Everything that has been narrated concerning a specific date for these events cannot be proven to have come from the Prophet (ﷺ) according to the scholars of hadith. Allah has wise reasons for causing the people to forget it. Even if the date were proven, it would not be permissible for the Muslims to single it out for particular acts of worship, and it is not permissible for them to celebrate it, because the Prophet (ﷺ) and his companions (رضى الله عنهم) did not celebrate it and they did not single it out in any way. If celebrating it was something that is prescribed in Islam, the Messenger (ﷺ) would have told his ummah about that, either in word or in deed. If any such thing had happened, it would have been well known, and his companions would have transmitted the information to us. If venerating and celebrating this night were part of the religion of Allah, then the Prophet (ﷺ) would have done that and would not have concealed it. Since no such thing happened, it is known that celebrating it and venerating it is not part of Islam at all.

"Therefore openly proclaim what you have been commanded, and turn away from the idolators. Truly, we will suffice you against the mockers." (15:94-95)

meaning – Convey that which has been revealed to you by your Lord, and do not pay attention to the idolators who want to turn you away from the signs of Allah. "They wish that you should compromise for them, so that they would compromise for you." (68:9). Do not fear them because Allah will suffice you against them, and He will protect you from them.

"Indeed, We know that your breast becomes tight because of what they say. So glorify the praises of your Lord and be of those who prostate themselves (to Him)." (15:97-98)

meaning – We know, O Muhammad, that you are distressed by their insults towards you, but do not let that weaken your resolve or cause you to give up conveying the Message of Allah. Put your trust in Him, for He will suffice you and will support you against them. Keep yourself busy with remembering Allah, praising Him, glorifying Him, and worshipping Him (which means prayer).

2022-02-21 20:13:51 A very IMPORTANT REMINDER!

"You should debate with ease and wisdom. As long as you debate with the Qur'an and the Sunnah, it is not possible that you will be defeated."

"He has created man from an Nutfah (drop of sperm), then behold, this same (man) becomes an open opponent." (16:4)

Allah mentions how man has been created from a Nutfah, i.e., something that is insignificant, weak and has no value – but when man becomes independent and is able to fend for himself – then he begins to dispute with his Lord, may He be exalted, and disbelieves in Him and fights His Messengers. But man was created to be a servant, not an opponent.

: Tafsir Ibn Kathir 16:4

The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) spat in his palm then pointed to it with his index finger and said:

"Allah says: 'Do you think you can escape from My punishment, O son of Adam, when I have created you from something like this? When your soul reaches here' – and (the Prophet (ﷺ)) pointed to his throat – 'You say: I give charity.' But it is too late for charity?'"

2022-02-19 08:49:52 STERN WARING AGAINST WAILING

The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said:

"There are four matters of the Jahiliyyah (pre-islamic period) among my Ummah that they will not abandon: Pride in one's nobility, slandering people's lineage, seeking rain by the stars, and wailing."

And he (ﷺ) said: "If the woman who wails does not repent before she dies, she will be raised on the Day of Resurrection wearing a garment of pitch and a chemise of scabs."

"Have you not seen those who have changed the blessings of Allah into disbelief (by denying Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) and his Message of Islam), and caused their people to dwell in the house of destruction." (14:28)

It refers to the disbelievers of Quraysh on the day of Badr. The blessing of Allah was faith that came to the polytheists of Quraysh, and they changed this blessing into disbelief and led their people to utter destruction.

This includes all disbelievers, for Allah sent Muhammad (ﷺ) as a mercy and a blessing to all mankind. Those who accepted this blessing and were thankful for it, will enter Paradise, while those who denied it and disbelieved in it, will enter the Fire.
