The Cotton Pygmy-goose (Nettapus coromandelianus) is a rare non-breeding visitor to Singapore that has been spotted here at various times of the year. They are usually found around marshes and other suitable freshwater wetlands, where they feed on seeds, aquatic plants and even insects!

These beautiful, bright yellow blooms belong to the Maiden’s Jealousy (Tristellateia australasiae)! Adorning our gardens, parks and roadsides, this native climber is also a food plant for caterpillars of the Brown Awl (Badamia exclamationis) butterfly.

Share this with some-bunny you love!

Just like humans, rabbits are social animals that need love and companionship! To prevent boredom or stress, be sure to spend lots of time engaging your rabbit and providing it with enrichment in the form of toys, hiding places or food that encourages it to forage.

2021-11-21 19:01:11 In line with the latest announcements from the Multi-Ministry Taskforce, group sizes of up to 5 pax will be permitted at our parks, gardens and nature reserves from Monday, 22 November 2021.

We continue to expect higher visitorship across our green spaces during weekends and peak periods. If you’re planning to visit, do check the visitorship levels using our safe distancing portal first and avoid the ones with high visitorship.

Keep to group sizes of up to 5 persons, with no intermixing between groups and always wear a mask, except when you’re engaged in strenuous exercises.

Do also note that some of our park facilities, such as water play areas and water recreational facilities, including hot spring stations at Sembawang Hot Spring Park, campsites and BBQ pits will remain closed.

Let's all play our part to keep everyone safe!

For more information and the latest advisories on the Covid-19 situation related to our parks and gardens, please visit www.nparks.gov.sg/noticeboard.

Potter Wasps get their name from the pot-shaped nests that they make using mud. These solitary wasps are an essential part of the ecosystem, helping to pollinate flowers and control caterpillar populations.

One of the more common species in Singapore is the Pear-tailed Potter Wasp (Delta pyriforme) pictured here! Well-adapted to urban and natural habitats, these shy creatures are relatively harmless when left alone and are more likely to flee than attack.
