2021-05-11 14:47:36 Vladimir Putin has expressed his deepest condolences to relatives of the children killed in the Kazan shooting and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.

On Tuesday, May 11, an armed attacker opened fire at school number 175 in Kazan. Several pupils and a teacher were killed, many more injured. The exact number of killed and wounded in the Kazan school shooting is yet to be specified. The gunman was detained and identified as a 19-year-old young man who had a license for possessing arms and might have been the school's former pupil.

The European Union also expresses condolences to the victims' relatives.

The original song was composed by Yevgeniy Dolmatovsky (lyrics) and Nikita Bogoslovsky and was originally performed by Mark Bernes in 1939. It narrates the confession of a military officer of his love for his native city – he would protect it under any circumstances.
