2021-05-18 21:11:41 Rock'n'Roll and Symphonic Music On One Stage: Concerts on Palace Square during SPIEF

The SPIEF Cultural Festival has always been fascinating in its scope. It was first held back in 2003. The program then was confined to palaces, parks, theaters and museums. But it took off from there.

Since 2007 the festival has been inviting not only local artists as special guests, but also foreign stars, including "Scorpions", Roger Waters ("Pink Floyd"), "Duran Duran", Anastacia, "Faithless" and Sting.

This year local star Diana Arbenina will rock the Palace Square. That same night, the Italian Symphony Orchestra of the Teatro Petruzelli will also come up on stage. The musicians are going to dedicate their performance to medical workers and volunteers. The concert will take place on June 3 on Palace Square, all SPIEF participants, as well as residents and guests of St. Petersburg, are welcome to come.

Here's what the Rosseti company has already secured:

2021-05-18 13:44:48 Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said there was no plan to cancel the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) this year, adding that preparations for the Forum are ongoing in coordination with Rospotrebnadzor, Russia's consumer protection watchdog.

Earlier this spring, Peskov stated that Russian President Vladimir Putin was planning to attend the Forum.

It opens with the annual "Leningrad" retro cars rally. Owners of classic and retro cars come from all over the country to take part in the rally. You will see cars made in the beginning of XX century, as well as family relics that have been passed on from one generation to another. The route of the rally is more than a hundred kilometers.

So what awaits our car enthusiasts? They will have a chance to:
enjoy a sport rally behind the wheel of their favorite classic car;
take part in a fascinating quest that sometimes will be more like sightseeing tour;
see more than 200 historical buses, trolleybuses, street cars and trucks from private collections and transport museums from Russia and abroad.

2021-05-17 18:11:12 The World Economic Forum, also known as the Davos forum, has canceled the 2021 meeting in Singapore over the COVID-19 pandemic.

The next Annual Meeting will instead take place in the first half of 2022. Final location and date will be determined based on an assessment of the situation later this summer.

Meanwhile, Børge Brende, President of the World Economic Forum, has confirmed his arrival to SPIEF and is considering his participation as a speaker in one of the sessions.

Among many Congress events, there will be a session "Closed-Loop Economy." It is organized with the support of REO. The session participants will discuss the legal framework and further steps for control and regulation of waste management; implementing an integrated information system for tracking the goods, raw, and other types of waste package, from producing to recycling.

Other topics of the session include:
foreign experience in economic turnover of secondary material resources, raw materials, and industrial waste;
restriction of single-use plastic circulation in the EEU countries;
separate waste collection and recycling;
medical waste management in CIS countries;
prospects for interstate cooperation on recycling.
