Multi-billionaire Elon Musk has in a meeting with Twitter employees hinted at potential job cuts if his $44bn (£35.8bn) takeover bid for the social media company is successful. He also addressed topics like remote working, freedom of speech and potential extra-terrestrial life.

Mr Musk was talking to staff for the first time since launching his bid for the firm in April.He has said he may quit the deal if he is not given data about fake accounts. On a wide-ranging video call with Twitter employees on Thursday, Mr Musk said layoffs at Twitter would depend on the company's financial situation.

Instagram is reportedly working on introducing a fix for a bug, that is causing issues for users while viewing Instagram Stories. Various users have reported the same via social media platforms. It seems that IG Stories are playing from the start even after users have viewed them.

What this means is that users have to view previous stories again to watch the latest ones. As per a report by The Verge, the company has said that that a fix is underway. Also, it is not known whether the bug is affecting Android or iOS Instagram users or both. In a response to The Verge, Meta spokesperson Christine Pai said that the company is "aware that some people are having trouble accessing Instagram Stories".

Elon Musk will speak to Twitter employees on Thursday for the first time since launching his $44bn (£36.2bn) bid for the company in April. The multi-billionaire Tesla boss is expected to take questions from Twitter's workers at the meeting. Mr Musk has warned he may quit the deal if the firm fails to provide data about fake accounts on the platform.

The event was announced by Twitter's chief executive Parag Agrawal in an email to staff on Monday. Mr Agrawal told employees they could submit questions to Mr Musk in advance of the meeting. The news, which was first reported by Business Insider, was confirmed to the BBC by a spokesperson for Twitter. The all-hands meeting will be the first time Mr Musk will have spoken directly with the company's workforce since launching his takeover bid.

Instagram owner Meta is launching new parental controls across the platform in the UK on 14 June. They include the option of setting daily time limits of between 15 minutes and 2 hours, after which a black screen appears on the app.

Parents can also schedule break times and see any accounts their child reports, and why they did so. Parents can now invite their children to activate the supervision tools - previously these could only be initiated by the young person. The new VR controls include purchase approval, app blocking and the option to view their child's friends' lists.Another Instagram feature being trialled is a "nudge" tool which prompts teens to look for different subjects, if they are repeatedly searching for the same thing.
