2021-11-15 09:46:49 Boeing-Ethiopian Partnership Ready to Bear Fruit

A new partnership forged this past summer between Boeing (Stand 1200) and Ethiopian Airlines to create a so-called aviation hub in Africa appears to have borne early fruit for the flag carrier, as talks on producing and supplying insulation blankets for Boeing 737 Max narrowbodies have reached their final stages, according to the airline’s acting COO, Retta Melaku.

According to an August agreement to create an African “aviation hub” in Addis Ababa, Boeing and Ethiopian plan to partner in four areas of strategic collaboration—industrial development, advanced aviation training, educational partnership, and leadership development.

Compared to the same period last year, the price of Arabica C coffee increased by 86%. According to the Coffee and Tea Authority, it is now being sold at £206.5 - 210, up from £110.7 a year ago.

According to Tatek Girma, Director of the Market Development and Promotion Directorate of the Coffee and Tea Authority, one of the main reasons for the increase in the price is the decrease in Brazil’s supply, which supplied more than 35% of the world's Arabian C coffee.

The African Association of Automotive Manufacturers (AAAM), leading moves to create a series of interlinked, regional motor industries, considers Ethiopia a prime base for development. Volkswagen is among the companies considering vehicle assembly there.

For this to be tapped, African governments would have to limit the influx of dumped, used vehicles flooding most markets, and enable development of affordable purchase finance.

2021-11-14 15:55:56 Ethiopian Central Bank to Open Branches Outside of Addis

The National Bank of Ethiopia (NBE) is to build branches in Wolayita Sodo, Bahir Dar, Hawassa and Dire Dawa. The buildings are to function as issue branches for commercial banks operating in those regions.

The central bank floated an international tender to hire contractors for the project. General and building contractors with a grade one license are eligible to apply until the end of November 25, 2021.

The Tony Elumelu Foundation (TEF), the leading philanthropy empowering African entrepreneurs from all 54 African countries, has selected 4,949 entrepreneurs from across Africa for its 2021 Entrepreneurship Programme.

The 2021 beneficiaries were selected from a pool of over 400,000 applications, based on their innovation, performance, and growth potential to create jobs and eradicate poverty on the continent.

Tony Elumelu Foundation CEO, Ifeyinwa Ugochukwu said we will be paying out a record US$24,750,000 directly to the hands of African entrepreneurs from all 54 African countries.
