Telebirr is to Enable Customers to Receive Money from Abroad

Telebirr, the platform getting increasing subscribers, has been given the approval to operate on international remittance from the National Bank of Ethiopia (NBE). This service is said to commerce within a month.

This will allow both registered and unregistered customers to receive money from abroad via their phone number.

Following the recent directive that allows commercial banks to take loan from international financial Institutions, Afreximbank is to release half a billion dollars for all Ethiopian banks.

Following the depreciation of the #Ethiopian Birr, CCIIDI has decided to buy coal processing machinery to supply local cement factories. The increasing price of coal in the international market, more than a 100% price surge, has forced the government to look into local initiative to produce up-to-standard coal for the cement industry.

Through this initiative, the institute plans to cover 90% of the cement industry’s coal demand. The government is now on the process of finalizing procurement of necessary machineries.
