Sometimes the best thing is to be there and listen. A person could have the answers to their worries but they just need a sounding board to reflect on things.
This is one important thing a person needs.
Having someone there when going through issues of mental health actually helps your state of mind and the feeling that your not alone.
No matter what age you are sometimes looking back at the child you were can bring major insight to who you really are, remember that.

These are just some examples , if we start noticing ourselves and make a list of even the simplest things we do , it may make us one step closer in our mental health journey. Sometimes its not about the amount of tasks that are completed , because even doing nothing and just surviving on a hard day is a big achievement.
At the end , what matters is our willingness , our efforts and our intentions.

Even though you could be a safe place and things ok doesn't mean that your friend is in the same position.
We may not share to everyone what's going on for pure protection. This might be your mental health can't deal with everything that is going on.
So tread carefully and work out the best way to be gentle on your friend. That type of kindness will be what you are remembered by.
So if your having a rough time, try to be gentle on your mental health cos you have to look after yourself and how you treat others.
