How was your day today? Often, it is when we tend to unconsciously focus on the negatives or struggles of the day that makes us stay in a loop of negative thoughts and lens. An activity like this helps us to acknowledge both sides of the happenings of each day. This was something Talya (read her story in our previous post) practiced when she was struggling with depressed thoughts. This is also an activity psychologists often use in practice.

Remember not to judge the results of what you did too much, what’s important is that you did it, no matter how small or big.

But we also want to acknowledge the struggles - if there were things that made you feel down today, what made you feel this way? What did you do that made you feel this way? What happened that made you feel this way?

Have you heard of “Zoom Fatigue”?

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, a recent study conducted by Stanford researchers has found that long hours of videoconferencing, be it for school or work, have been linked to detrimental psychological consequences.
-
According to this study, online video conferencing can be exhausting as:

1. Excessive amounts of eye contact is highly intensive, which can exacerbate feelings of social anxiety during public speaking

2. Seeing yourself constantly during video chats can lead to higher levels of stress and self-criticism.

3. The overall cognitive load is increased during video conferencing because everyone is required to put in more effort to effectively deliver and receive non-verbal cues, that would otherwise be natural or sub-conscious during an in-person conversation

We just keep pushing, pushing, managing, succumbing to feelings until there comes a time when mental exhaustion blocks you, makes you stop by force and in the worst way you can imagine...

Therefore, prioritize your emotional health, it is not because it is not visible to the eyes, like a wound for example, that it does not need care.

Pay attention to the symptoms, the body's signs...

Don't neglect yourself, don't put yourself in the background. Mind and body go together, take care of your "home" with the care it deserves.
