Mask-wearing in outdoor settings such as parks, gardens and nature reserves is optional but continues to be required when you visit our indoor facilities, such as museums, galleries and enclosed visitor centres. In mask-off settings, please ensure a safe distance of 1 metre between individuals or groups and keep social gatherings to group size of up to 10 persons.

Let's all play our part to keep everyone safe! For more information and the latest advisories on the Covid-19 situation related to our parks and gardens, please visit www.nparks.gov.sg/noticeboard.

Have you seen these pink round fruits growing in open areas? They belong to the Rotan Dini (Flagellaria indica), a perennial climber that flowers and fruits all year round!

Also known as the False Rattan, its tough stems were used as a rattan substitute for making baskets and stitching thatch, while young leaves and stems were pounded in coconut milk to make hair wash.

At only two centimeters long, the beautiful Malayan Pygmy Rasbora or Dwarf Rasbora (Boraras maculatus) is the smallest Rasbora species in Singapore!

This World Wildlife Day, we commemorate even the tiniest of wildlife in our forests.

A critically endangered species threatened by illegal fishing for the ornamental trade, sightings of the Dwarf Rasbora have been recorded within the protected Nee Soon Swamp Forest.

With pristine forest streams and specialised microhabitats, the Nee Soon Swamp forest supports almost half of the freshwater fish species in Singapore! Read more about the fish species living in this important freshwater habitat here.

Befitting of its name, the long stems of the Squirrel's Claws (Caesalpinia crista) are covered with short, sharp and curved spines—resembling claws!

This native climber bears fragrant yellow flowers with egg-shaped petals, and can be found growing on riverbanks, sandy beaches, and the sandy parts of mangroves.
