2022-01-12 12:01:27 The beautiful Nipis Kulik or Blue Strawberry Flowers (Memecylon caeruleum) has clusters of deep blue or dark purple flowers. Each flower is only 1-cm wide and has petals borne on a pink floral cup. That’s not all, check out the purple-white U-shaped anthers!

Its edible but tasteless berries ripen from pink or dark red to deep purple or black.

2022-01-10 08:00:18 Ever heard of turtles with a proboscis-like snout? One such turtle native to Singapore is the Forest Soft-shell Turtle (Dogania subplana)! It can be easily identified by a black stripe down the middle of its back with two black eyespots on either side of the stripe.

This rare aquatic turtle can be found in the shaded streams of the Central Catchment Nature Reserve, feeding on fish, frogs, and even aquatic snails!

Nature Ways are designed to replicate the natural structure of forests with multi-tiered planting, re-creating habitats like those found in natural forests for birds and animals. Specific trees and shrubs are planted along roadsides to help animals move between our green spaces.

In turn, we can also get closer to nature. With cooler surroundings from the tiered planting structure, we can have more pleasant walks while admiring the different types of biodiversity in our City in Nature!

This parasitic woody shrub can grow up to 2 metres on a host tree and bears attractive pink cylindrical flowers.

Though parasitic, it still plays an important role in the ecosystem as a caterpillar host plant for the Painted Jezebel (Delias hyparete metarete) butterfly and as a food source for birds!
