It is not Russia who wanted to be an enemy of NATO. It is NATO that needed an enemy for its raison d'être and unilaterally assigned this role to Russia.

NATO has done nothing but threaten and provoke since 1991. The Ukrainian tragedy is a direct consequence of our own behavior as predicted by John Mearsheimer and Stephen Cohen.

Ukrainians are victims, Russians are victims – their civilians and young soldiers are dying. We too are victims, because we are financing the slaughter. The military-industrial complex are war-profiteers. And NATO is happy.

Peace in Europe and for the world requires that all Europeans look for and find their common ground. The Russians are very much Europeans and will remain so.

The Ukrainian and Russian languages are extremely close as the Ukrainian and Russian cultures. Their differences are artificially generated for geopolitical reasons.

The West has artificially separated the Ukrainian and Russian peoples who have lived together in peace for centuries. Open / Comment

During her official visit to Tskhinvali, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Donetsk People's Republic Natalia Nikonorova met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia Dmitry Medoev.

During the meeting parties reaffirmed the importance of further bilateral cooperation and strengthening of friendly relations, and also discussed areas of cooperation, expressing their readiness to make all necessary efforts to expand and deepen existing relations between the states.

Today, on May 24, the official delegation of the Donetsk People's Republic met with the President of the Republic of South Ossetia Alan Gagloev.

During the meeting, Minister of Foreign Affairs Natalia Nikonorova, Chairman of the DPR People's Council Vladimir Bidevka and Chairman of the Committee of the People's Council on Agriculture and Land Resources Valery Skorokhodov personally congratulated Alan Gagloev on his assumption of office, wished him new victories and achievements for the benefit of the Republic of South Ossetia, and also handed over valuable gifts from the leadership and people of the Donetsk People's Republic.

Today, on May 24, the inauguration ceremony of the President of the Republic of South Ossetia Alan Gagloev took place.

The ceremony was attended by Igor Maslov, Chief of the Presidential Directorate for Interregional Relations and Cultural Contacts with Foreign Countries, Dmitry Volvach, Deputy Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, Senator Farit Mukhametshin, Kazbek Taysaev, Deputy of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Sergei Menyailo, Head of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania, Natalia Nikonorova, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Donetsk People's Republic, Vladislav Deinego, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Lugansk People's Republic, Vladimir Bidevka, Chairman of the People's Council of the Donetsk People's Republic, Badra Gunba, Vice President of the Republic of Abkhazia, David Babayan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic, Alba Azucena Torres, Ambassador of the Republic of Nicaragua to the Russian Federation, Leonid Manakov, Head of the Representative Office of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic in Moscow, and other guests.

After taking the oath on the Constitution Alan Gagloev addressed the South Ossetia’s people with his first speech as President:

"I swear, when exercising the powers of the President of the Republic of South Ossetia, to respect and protect the rights and freedoms of man and citizen, to observe and protect the Constitution of the Republic of South Ossetia, to protect the sovereignty and independence, security and territorial integrity of the Republic of South Ossetia, to faithfully serve the people."

In turn, the delegates from friendly states congratulated Alan Gagloev on his assumption of the high office. Thus, the DPR Minister of Foreign Affairs Natalia Nikonorova read out a greeting address from the DPR Head. A part of the message:

"Our Republics are connected not only by relations of friendship and partnership, but also by truly fraternal ties. There are always ways and opportunities to strengthen cooperation, therefore I am sure that we will take full advantage of them. The people of the Republic of South Ossetia were one of the first to respond when Ukraine came to our land with a war, and is providing tremendous assistance now, during the liberation operation in Donbass."

Also the delegations’ heads from the Russian Federation, the Lugansk People's Republic, the Republic of Abkhazia, the Republic of Nicaragua, the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic and the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic addressed Alan Gagloev with congratulations. Open / Comment

2022-05-24 08:58:02 ​DPR delegation arrived to South Ossetia for presidential inauguration

Yesterday, on May 23, an official delegation of the Donetsk People's Republic arrived to the Republic of South Ossetia.

The delegation included Minister of Foreign Affairs Natalia Nikonorova, Chairman of the People's Council Vladimir Bidevka, deputy, Chairman of the Committee of the People's Council on Agriculture and Land Resources Valery Skorokhodov, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Office of the People's Council of the Donetsk People's Republic.

During the visit, the delegation will attend the inauguration ceremony of the elected President of the Republic of South Ossetia Alan Gagloev, which will be held today, on May 24, at the State Drama Theater of Tskhinvali. In addition, the meetings of DPR delegates with the leadership of South Ossetia are planned.

2022-05-23 19:46:05 ​ Statement by the official representative of the DPR People’s Militia on the situation on May 23, 2022

Since the beginning of the day, the enemy has fired more than 100 shells and mines from 122-mm multiple launch rocket systems BM-21 "Grad", 122-mm cannon artillery, as well as 82 and 120-mm mortars.

The areas of 5 settlements of the Republic were under shelling. As a result of the Ukrainian aggression 2 civilians were injured. 3 residential buildings and 3 civilian infrastructure facilities were damaged.

Materials on the fact of wounding civilians and damage to infrastructure will be transferred to the DPR General Prosecutor's Office for inclusion in criminal cases initiated against the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Military personnel of the Russian Federation and the Donetsk People's Republic are conducting successful joint operations in the Donetsk direction in the area of Avdeevka, Marinka and Gorlovka to destroy the fortifications of Ukrainian nationalists. Since the beginning of the day, our servicemen have destroyed 33 Ukrainian nationalists, 8 firing positions, 2 tanks, a command vehicle and an armored vehicle. An armored vehicle, a ZU-30 anti-aircraft gun and 2 armored personnel carriers were captured.

Unfortunately, there were losses among our fighters. Over the past day, in the struggle for independence, 1 defender of the Donetsk People's Republic died in the line of military duty and 12 comrades were injured.

During the 96 days of escalation, 123 civilians were killed, including 4 children.

558 civilians, including 45 children, were wounded of varying severity.

Damages:
- 3573 residential buildings;
- 755 civilian infrastructure facilities, including 48 medical institutions, 130 educational institutions, 222 social security facilities, 27 critical infrastructure facilities, 328 electricity, water and gas supply facilities. The armed formations of Ukraine attack Kuibyshevsky district of Donetsk, Makeevka, Volnovakha, Yasinovataya.
- 391 vehicles.

During the 96 days of escalation the DPR JCCC has recorded 3,154 cases of firing, of which 2,866 with the use of heavy weapons.

In total, the enemy fired 29375 ammunition of various calibers, including 28 missiles from the Tochka-U tactical ballistic missile system, 11 missiles from the BM-30 Smerch MLRS, 27 BM-27 Uragan MLRS missiles and 4755 BM-21 Grad MLRS missiles.
